3rd Annual Cans for a Cause

Hi Haigh Families!

The school will be hosting a canned food drive from November 7-18th. They will be partnering with Gleaners Food Bank to feed our community!

A flyer came home with your child today to explain in more detail. The class that collects the most cans wins!  Each child will get a $5 gift card to Yogurtopia and a classroom visit from Miley the Cow!

Thanks in advance 🙂

Halloween Fun

Here are some pictures to enjoy from our Halloween festivities!  The costumes were great and the children had a blast.  There’s also pictures from our Candy Corn challenge.  Students had 20 minutes to work with a partner to build the tallest, free standing structure they could using only toothpicks and candy corn.

PBIS Celebration- Fall Fest!

Dear Families,

On Monday, October 31st we will be having our first PBIS celebration of the year. This celebration is to recognize your child’s positive behavior for the month of October. Our theme will be a Fall Festival! This event will take place outside, so let’s hope the weather stays pleasant!

Be sure to check the weather forecast and make sure your child is dressed appropriately.  Students will be outside for 45 minutes, therefore, a scarf, hat or mittens may be good idea.

Thank you,

Haigh PBIS Committee

Parent-Teacher Conference Sign-Up

Happy Tuesday!

Below is the sign-up sheet for conferences. I gathered all 3 sheets  that you previously signed up on and tried to keep your same time; or very close to it.  Take a look and confirm your time.  If that time doesn’t work, there are some open available slots.  Feel free to leave a comment or email me to change/add your time.

There are a few parents/students who have not signed up at all yet. So, please sign-up for an open slot on any of the 3 days. Looking forward to sitting down, meeting, and talking with all of you!

Thanks,

Mrs. Izbicki

Websites for Home

Good Evening Haigh Families!

Thank you to those who came to the Parent meeting today! It was so nice meeting some more of you 🙂  I updated the list of useful websites that your child has access to at home.  See the link under pages- top right hand corner.

Frontrowed and MobyMax are great websites for Math!  Students can get more practice at home using these sites. They know how to log in but I included information and class codes on the link.

Newsela and Read Works are awesome resources your child can use for Reading at home.  What I like about these sites is that they give students non-fiction passages at their reading level.  Read Works also has a tab for vocabulary and text-dependent questions. So those of you who are wanting your child to do more Reading homework, these sites would be perfect for that!  I will assign articles to each child, every week, based on what I feel would be a good fit.  They are also free to search articles of their own.  This could count as part or all of their 20 minutes of Reading each night homework.  I will monitor their work through these sites, once the students hits “submit”.

There are some other great sites listed that your child has access to, using their student number.  These are just a few of the useful sites we use in our classroom.

***Parent-Teacher Conferences***

I will be sending home your conference time at the end of this week. I was able to keep most, if not all, times the same from when you previously signed up. If you are unable to make that time, please notify me so we can make the necessary change:)
