Little Red Riding Hood Videos!!

Happy Friday!

I’m happy to share these videos of the plays the students worked so hard on.  They worked together as a group, after doing a close read of the play “Little Red Riding Hood” and analyzing the cast of characters, dialogue, character’s personality traits, stage directions, and purpose.  They were able to work independently to decide on how they wanted to perform this.  Here they are!

PS. I apologize for 2 of the videos were cut off by a few seconds due to the amount of space I had on my phone and I didn’t realize it stopped recording until after.

Upcoming Events & Reminders

Happy December Parents!

Just a look ahead at next week:

Monday– Pajama Day!  Students can wear their favorite pj’s to school, please no slippers 🙂

Friday– Haigh Spirit Day!!  Wear your Haigh shirt or anything with an owl.

Little Red Riding Hood presentations!!

On Monday, your child will be bringing home a Reader’s Theater rubric, along with their Little Red Riding Hood plays. They should take time each night to practice their character lines. They have been working hard at practicing this play with their assigned group.  We have been studying narrative dramas and have closely looked at all the structural elements that go into a playwright.  Each child has a character (or 2) and have been working on their delivery (expression, fluency, gestures, character traits, etc).

They can bring in any props they feel would suit their character and they may dress up to reflect their character.  I will videotape each presentation and post to the blog after next Friday!  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal

School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”

If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools.  Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years.  Continue reading
