Week Ahead

Happy Spring!

Now let’s hope this weather warms up…:)  Here are the spelling words for the week and the newsletter I am sending home today.

**Please make sure your child is taking the time to study these Spelling Words each night, as the scores have not been great over the last few weeks.  We work with these words during Daily 5 each day and they have various tasks they do with the words, but for some students that is simply not enough.  Thank you for your cooperation.**

Reading Month Fun!

Happy Friday!

Just wanted to post a few pictures from some of the Reading Fun we’ve had in March so far.  We had a Dearborn Police officer come read a story this week to our class and he answered students’ questions about his job.  They really enjoyed that!

Today, we had a few Dearborn High football players come read to the class.  Students were so excited and had a bunch of questions about High School, football, and just general questions about them 🙂

Also posted are pictures of our door/hallway area.  We chose to do a theme based around The Grouchy Ladybug book written by Eric Carle.

Enjoy!

Important updates/Field Trip Info

Happy Sunday Parents!

I hope that you are all with power and had a safe, warm weekend. Those couple of unexpected days off most likely left us with questions about a few things for this upcoming week.

Field Trip to The Henry Ford

We will be leaving the school tomorrow around 9:15 am, as the museum will be expecting us at 9:30 am. We will arrive and see the movie, Dream Big at 10. The movie will last about an hour and then we will be free to roam and visit the museum. Please make sure your child brings a bagged lunch, as we will be eating lunch there. We will arrive back at the school by 2:30 pm.

Thanks to those parents who volunteered to chaperone, it helps a great deal and I truly appreciate your assistance. We only booked one bus, to save money. We want to be able to use that second bus towards a future field trip at the end of the year. So we are asking all parent chaperones to drive and meet us there. You are welcome to take your child or they can ride the bus with us; your choice. If you would like to meet at the school first, I can give you your assigned group of children. If not, please meet us there by 9:30 am! Thanks 🙂

Spelling Words

I will not test tomorrow or assign new Spelling Words this week. Students did not have ample time to work with these words during Daily 5, or at home (if they did not bring words home). So we will use the same set and test this Friday.

Spirit Week

Please make sure to check your March is Reading Month calendar for specifics on Spirit Week. I know that tomorrow is dress like a Happy Camper Day! Also, we are still in need of volunteers to come in and read a book of your choice to our class and discuss the importance of reading. They would love to see some new faces reading to them 🙂

If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

March is Reading Month!!

Happy Tuesday!

I can’t believe that we are heading into March tomorrow!  March is a fun month here at Haigh, as we have many events and activities planned toward Reading!  A calendar will be sent home today with various activities you can do at home to help celebrate Reading Month.

In addition, I would like to extend an invitation to all of you to come in and read to our class. This is a really nice opportunity for you to come in and get to know our class and let them get to know you 🙂  In general, the the end of the school day works best. I will try to accommodate your requests and make adjustments in our schedule if necessary. I really hope that all of you find a way to join us sometime this month. If you are interested and able, please email me, respond to this post, or simply write a note in your child’s planner with a day and time that works for you.

Thanks to all of you for all you do! Happy Reading!

Mrs. Izbicki
