Field Trip Tomorrow!

Happy Monday Parents!

The kids are having a blast at Field Day!  It’s a chilly one out there, and will most likely be the same tomorrow.  Please make sure your child has a brown bagged lunch to bring on the trip, and is dressed comfortably and warm 🙂

U of M is expecting us at 11, so we will depart school around 10:30 am.  Thank you to my parent chaperones, please note the change in departure time ( was previously 9:15). Also a reminder that if you’re coming, you have volunteered to drive you and your child separately.  We appreciate it and thank you!

A note is coming home today regarding our end of year picnic scheduled for next Monday, June 12th.  Please make sure to send the permission slip portion of it back so your child is able to attend.  If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask 🙂

Have a great week!

9 more days until summer!!!

PBIS-All School Picnic

PBIS Celebrations

Dear Families,

On Wednesday, May 31st we will be having a PBIS celebration to recognize your child’s positive behavior. This month’s celebration theme is All School Picnic! We will be having our picnic outside, so let’s hope the weather stays pleasant!

Your child may bring a towel or blanket to sit on during the picnic, and we strongly encourage students bring a brown bag lunch since we will be eating outside. However, lunch will still be available for purchase in the cafeteria.

Thank you,

Haigh PBIS Committee

Clean-Up Parade Pics

Enjoy a few pictures from the parade!  Our class decorated visors with sayings of their choice and worked together in groups to make signs out of recycled cardboard boxes. They had a great time 🙂

Poetry Slam moved to Wednesday!!

Hi parents,

Sorry for the late notice, but the Poetry Slam will be moved to next Wednesday, the 24th.  We originally chose this Friday to be a relief from testing this week, but we are starting the ELA M-Step tomorrow.  It’s taking the 3rd grade a really long time, and with field day next week we cannot test on Wednesday.  So, we will spend Wednesday morning presenting our poems before we join in on the field day activities.

The students will ONLY have to present to our class, not the entire 4th grade.  I know some students are really happy about this 🙂

A Field Day notice is being sent home today as well.  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate.

Field Day

Dear Parents and Guardians,

To help us celebrate another fantastic school year, we will be having Field Day on Wednesday, May 24, 2017.  For this Field Day event students will work through stations with their class to develop skills they have learned in physical education and have tons of fun!  The schedule for the event is as follows:

9:00 AM – 11:00 AM Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grades

11:30 AM – 12:30 PM All School Picnic

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM 3rd, 4th and 5th Grades

On May 24, students need to wear clothes that will allow them to be physically active outside, including tennis shoes.  They need to bring a water bottle.  There will be a station to refill bottles if needed.  Students are highly encouraged to bring a bagged lunch to enjoy at the all school picnic.  They are welcome to bring a towel or blanket to sit on as well.  Students will be able to purchase school lunch if necessary.

We are looking for one parent from each classroom to donate a treat for the entire class to enjoy after their session.  Please contact your child’s classroom teacher if you are interested in proving a treat.

Lastly, we need 15 parent volunteers for both sessions to help run stations.  If you are interested in volunteering, fill out the lower portion and return it to Mr. Peecher.  Please, contact Mr. Peecher with any questions.

Thanks!  The PBIS/Field Day Committee  peechers@dearbornschools.org
*We will only be able to accommodate students & parent volunteers for this event.

Poetry Slam/M-Step

Happy Friday!

Next week the M-Step begins.  We will test Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and the following week of the 22nd-  Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday as well.

We will be starting our Poetry Unit next week, in the midst of M-Step testing.

The 4th grade teachers thought it might be fun to have a POETRY SLAM next Friday, to help break up testing and have something exciting to look forward to. Students have been looking for a poem that they like and that they can memorize. I am encouraging kids to have fun with this event-bring in props, act out the poem, be dramatic in the presentation. They are expected to memorize it and be prepared to present “SLAM” it next Friday 🙂
