Happy Reading Month!

A calendar was sent home a couple weeks ago in regards to the fun activities you can do each day in honor of Reading Month with your child.  One thing that our class welcomes and encourages are visiting Readers!!!  The kids love it when someone, other than their teacher, reads to them.

We were lucky enough last week to have the privilege of Mr. Sion’s company (Rami’s grandpa, a retired Dearborn teacher).   He entertained us with the 2 stories he read and the song he SANG to us!!  The love of Reading he showed to our class was evident and admirable.  Enjoy a few pictures from last week and his visit

If there is any parent, grandparent, or visitor that wants to visit our class during the month of March to read to us, please contact me so we can set up a day and time.

Below are the Spelling Words for Week 22.  Our class news was sent home today, but here are a few important reminders for the week

This week is Spirit Week!!!  The March Reading Month calendar has all the details for the month/week, but here is a breakdown”

Monday- Dress like an animal with paws day!

Tuesday- Twin Day- Wear same outfit as a friend

Wednesday- Hat Day

Thursday- Dress like a book character day

Friday- Crazy Hair and Green Day!  Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

In order to participate, we are asking each student to bring 50 cents per day they dress, all proceeds will be donated to the local animal shelter in honor of our theme “Paws for Reading”.

Happy Monday!

Below are the Spelling Words for week 21.  The class newsletter was sent home today.  A couple reminders for the week:

Tuesday- March 6th- Our class will visit the Book Fair.  Students will have a chance to buy and/or browse the fair.  If they bring $ at any point during the week, they will have the chance to visit the fair and purchase books.  Family night is Wednesday and the fair will be open until 7pm

Thursday- March 8th- Field Trip to Michigan Science Center (Detroit)- Please make sure your child has a bagged lunch (something they can throw away after).  If you are a chaperone, you can wait outside as we will board the bus at 9am.  If you are driving separate, please inform me and meet us there by 9:30 am

Spelling Week 21

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a fun, relaxing mid-winter break!  We all need that time to get re-energized and back to work   Attached is the newsletter for this week and Spelling Words for Week 20.

Permission slips for the field trip are due by next Wednesday, or as soon as possible.  I do have enough chaperones already for this trip, thank you to all who volunteered so quickly

Spelling Week 20

Dear Families,

Our February PBIS celebration is almost here and the kids are so excited to make a competition out of this month’s activity with a CASTLE CUP CHALLENGE! Each grade level will be divided up into small groups and will have the opportunity to work with their classmates to design and create the best structure they can imagine.

In order to make this celebration possible, we are asking for donations of        16 ounce plastic cups (typical red Solo cups). The more cups we have, the more the kids will get to use in their creation.

If you are able to donate, please send the cups in with your student no later than Monday, February 26th.

Spelling Week 19

Happy Snowy Monday!

Below are the Spelling Words for week 18 and attached is the link for our Class newsletter, which was sent home today.  You’ll notice we have a busy week next week with Valentine’s Day and a field trip to the Dearborn Symphony.  A permission slip will be sent home this week regarding this trip for next Thursday.  Also, look for a list of the names of boys and girls in our class for Valentine’s cards.  If your child chooses to pass our Valentine’s, please make sure they are filled out and put together at home   If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
