Below is our Class News for the week and Spelling Words for week 16.  Please note that there is NO late start this Wednesday.  There was a mistake on the calendar.  We are continuing to NWEA test this and the next couple of weeks.  I was very pleased with our Language Usage scores.  Ask your child how they did…a report will be sent home after all tests are finished 🙂

Hi Parents!

We will begin testing for Winter NWEA testing tomorrow!  We have a 4 week window to complete 4 tests, so my plan is as follows:

Thursday 1/10- Language Usage

Friday 1/11-Language Usage cont’d

Monday- 1/14- Language Usage (make-ups or anyone who didn’t finish)

Tuesday- 1/15- Reading

Wednesday- 1/16- Reading cont’d

Thursday- 1/17- Reading cont’d (if needed)

Friday- No testing- 1/2 day

Monday 1/21- No School- MLK Day

Tuesday 1/22- 1/2 day- no testing

Wednesday 1/23- Science

Thursday- 1/24- Science

Friday-1/25- Science (if needed)

Monday- 1/28- Math

Tuesday- 1/29- Math

Wednesday- 1/30- Math (if needed)

TH/FRI- any test make-ups all subjects

Spelling Week 15

Haigh family,

I wish all of you happy, safe, and healthy holidays and time spent with your loved ones over these next couple weeks.  We had a wonderful day today, spent eating a delicious pancake breakfast (Thanks Mrs. Mashhour), and other toppings and sweet treats sent in by other parents for our class to enjoy.

I’m sending a sincere and heartfelt THANK YOU to all of you for helping run reindeer games, sending in treats, and spoiling me with the most amazing gifts. I’m truly blessed to teach here at Haigh and feel so grateful to have your student in my class.

Parents-

Please make sure your child is in the band room at Bryant Middle School  by 6:40 pm, so they can take the stage at 7pm.  They’ve done a great job performing for the school and practicing at Bryant today!

I may not be there tonight, as the 24 hour flu/stomach bug has hit my house.  All 3 of my little boys are sick with it.  If I don’t see you tonight, I hope to see you on Friday for our Holiday party!

Happy Monday and last week before break!!

There are no Spelling Words this week and no Math homework.  Math tests will be returned tomorrow.

Reminders for the week:

Tuesday– walking to Bryant for Music practice-9am/Concert at 7 pm, please make sure your child is in the band room by 6:40 pm

Thursday– PBIS celebration in the afternoon- Movie Theater!

Friday– pancake breakfast at 9am, followed by reindeer games 🙂

I will be sending home a Math NWEA packet on Friday.  This is not mandatory, but encouraged.  We will be testing within 2 weeks after break. This will be good review and practice for the test to come.  Any returned packets will get 5 hoots from me:)

Thank you to all those who sent in sweet treats for the kids to enjoy while we watched the original movie “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”.  The kids got to play pin the heart on the Grinch, make a Grinch craft from multiplication, play Grinch jeopardy, and enjoy Grinch snacks.  We had some really cute hair-dos, outfits, and even faces that were painted like Mr. Grinch!

Don’t forget tomorrow is Grinch Day!  Try to wear a Grinch inspired hair-do or outfit, or simply wear green 🙂

Grinch Day letters were sent home last week.  This will be a day full of fun and learning.  We will do Reading and Math activities centered around the Grinch, and have plenty of fun activities too.  Also, looking to show the original movie and enjoy some Grinch-inspired treats.  There are a ton of ideas on Pinterest if anyone is able to send in treats, we would be so appreciative!
