Module 3 Math Test-Thursday & Friday!!!

Hi Parents,

We are going to start the Module 3 test on Thursday and continue on Friday.  It’s a pretty lengthy test so I’m going to break it up into 2 days and begin a day earlier than I originally planned.  Please make sure your child is practicing their division and multiplication strategies at home and utilizing the bookmark and division slider resources I gave them.  We did a small story problem review today and will do an even bigger review on Multiples, Factors, Prime, Composite, and Multi-digit division and multiplication problems. They can look over this review for extra practice and to study.

We have worked hard and long on this Module and I feel pretty confident in what they know.  I think they will all do a great job on this test!  Scores and tests will be given on Monday to take home.

If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Keep the Quote Week 2

This week’s quote is focused on “hard work”.  We discussed that we can’t expect to get good grades and have good things happen to us without putting in the hard work, effort, and determination.  Good things come to those who work!  Nominations will be held on Friday!

Keep the Quote Winner Week 1

The students nominated………….

Bella!!!!!!!

We had many girls and boys nominate and give reasons as to why Bella earned this week’s quote.  Many talked about her continuous acts of kindness throughout the day,  that she’s always there to help someone in need and make them feel better, and most importantly the fact that she’s never “looked down” on someone or treated them like she was better than them.  These are just some of the reasons students gave today to nominate Bella as our very first keeper of the quote!

Great job Bella 🙂

Keep the Quote

Keep the Quote

Keep the Quote is a fun, weekly goal-setting  activity that we will do from now until the end of the year.  Each Monday, I will post a new quote (will also take quotes from student recommendations).  We will discuss what the quote means and how we can EARN that quote.  For example, if the quote is “Be somebody who makes everybody feel like a somebody”, we would explain that our class should be trying to actively make others feel good about themselves.  They should be giving compliments to others and making sure everyone is included.

On each Friday, we will nominate students who have demonstrated qualities of the quote.  We will vote on one student and give reasons why that student ‘earned the quote”.  When there is a winner chosen, that student gets to “Keep the Quote”.  I will rip it off, we will all sign the back with words of encouragement, and they can take it home 🙂  Then we start again the following week with a new quote to work towards.  This all fits in with the spreading kindness and the new Habits Mr. Short has put into place each month.

I hope the students enjoy this activity and really look forward to making this a goal- to keep the quote!

Above is a picture of the quote for this week- out first quote!  Please talk with your child at home about what this means and ways they can “earn” this quote!  I will post a picture of the winner every Friday and tell you why they were nominated by their peers 🙂

Class News

Good afternoon!

Below is the Class News for the week.  Not many important dates the rest of this month.  We are working hard on our Reader’s Theaters, Fantasy Narrative Writing, and finishing up Module 3 in Math.

There is a Box Tops contest and it ends this Friday.  So if you have any Box Tops or dimes, please save and send in with your child by Friday!  Thank you in advance.

Since we had a very short week last week, the same Spelling Words are for this week.  Test on Friday.

Please make sure to see the next blog post about “Keep the Quote”.  We will be implementing Keep the Quote from now until the end of the year.

Have a great week!

No Spelling Test Tomorrow

Hi Parents!

Due to the short week, NWEA testing, and unexpected “ice day” yesterday, I am going to postpone the Spelling test to next Friday.  The students didn’t have much time to work on the activities this week and won’t have a ton of time next week due to NWEA testing, so please make sure they are studying their words at home and even taking time to complete tasks on iLearn.

Thanks for your cooperation 🙂
