Class News

I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend and is staying healthy! The stomach flu hit my house hard last week and everyone was sick BUT my husband…he’s lucky!

Since we have a short week, there are NO SPELLING WORDS this week. We will be starting the Reading NWEA tomorrow morning, and will take as long as we need to finish. Next week we will begin the Math.

Just a reminder that this Friday, January 24th, is our field trip to Rev’d Up Fun! A detailed note will be sent home this week with more information for the chaperones. We will have you drive separate, take your child, and meet at the location. Each class will be split up into 2 groups, so you won’t be assigned a specific group of kids, instead, we will all supervise and help as needed 🙂

We will eat lunch there so no bagged lunch necessary. Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a great week!

Happy Monday! Below are the Spelling Words for Week 16- ur/er/ir words. Please note: There will be NO SPELLING WORDS next week, due to the short week of no school, half days, and NWEA testing.

A study guide for Math will be sent home today! We are finishing the last lesson in Topic C today, then will be reviewing for our Mid-Module test on Wednesday. The test will consist of addition and subtraction problems with regrouping and borrowing. Students can use the strategy that works best for them.

A NWEA homework packet is being sent home today. Please have your child work on this throughout the week and turn back in on Friday. As always, Zearn and i-Ready are great resources and practice of what we are learning in Math and Reading in school.

Subtraction Poem

Parents- as we get into 2-digit subtraction with borrowing the students have been asked to remember this poem. After they write the subtraction problem vertically, they should always look at the ones place and ask themselves “is there more on top or more on the floor?” This will help them to determine the next step, whether they need to borrow a 10 or not. They can always use the place value chart to draw and help them visually see if they struggle with this way.

Holiday Party

Happy Friday Parents!

I just wanted to keep everyone in the loop about our small celebration that will be next Friday, December 20th. We plan to have a pancake breakfast for the students that morning, then follow it with some games and crafts 🙂 We could use some extra hands during rotation part of the morning, that will probably start around 9:45 am. If you would like to come in and help out, that would be awesome! Please give me a heads up if you plan to join us so I can let the office know ahead of time. Thank you in advance!

Have a great weekend-only 12 more days until Christmas!
