Keep the Quote and Class News
Happy Tuesday!
Sorry this is coming to you late, I was absent yesterday for a funeral. This week we are testing in Science and Reading NWEA. I know the children are tested out and exhausted, but it is important that they try their hardest to show the growth they made in 4th grade. A lot of kids seem unfocused and Ms. Cronin mentioned some kids were even playing games during the NWEA test. I had a talk with the class about the importance of these tests.
Reminder that there is NO SCHOOL this Friday or Monday- due to Memorial Day. School will resume on Tuesday, and we will finish up NWEA Math next week.
Last week’s Keep the Quote winner was Sara!!! Many students talked about how Sara’s funny personality helps brighten their day and how she tries to lift others when she sees they need it. Good job, Sara!!
This week’s quote is an important one. Right now, with the end of the year in sight, behavior is getting a little wacky. I was told by numerous staff members when I got back today, that my class didn’t take the fire drill seriously. As Ms. Conrad took them outside, they were loud, not following directions, and at one point, running around as if it were recess. Now I know that we don’t expect them to sit quietly the entire time, especially in the cold. But we practice drills multiple times every year in case of a real emergency. Yesterday was a real emergency, and they know what is expected of them. It needs to be quiet so that we can hear directions from the principal or main office. So that we can relay directions to the class and keep them safe. A lot of the times, it’s following what they see other students doing. So, this quote seemed perfect for this week, as we are our own person and can make our own decisions to do right each and every day 🙂
