Greetings, Friends & Families!

What was happening in our classroom?

This week we welcomed our new friend Fatima who joined our family at room 115. We are so delighted and happy to have you with us, Fatima:)

We spent this week in setting our school and classroom rules, procedures, and our daily schedule. We worked on how do we feel on our first day of school, what is our favorite subject, and what is our favorite special to go to during the day. We started our reading comprehension with learning about our first core word, “I”. We read “I said, Hi”, from the “Core First Learning” series. For this week, we read “The Pigeon HAS to Go to School!” book by “Mo Willems”. For math comprehension, we started counting numbers 1-5. And for science comprehension, we learned about calendar, seasons, & the Weather. We would like to thank Bisan’s mom for donating different supplies that we need in our classroom, thank you so much Mrs. Freij ๐Ÿ™‚ We also would like to welcome our new aids who are going to stay with us until the end of September, Ms. Rahma and Ms. Zahraa, we are very happy to have you with us ladies, and we appreciate all that you do in our classroom ๐Ÿ™‚

In this week we met our wonderful physical therapist, Mrs. LaSandra, and we had so much fun in the Gym, Art, & Music.

Exploration the last week of school! The week of June 12th/2023

Greetings, Friends & Families!

What was happening?

We started the week with the celebration of three of our adult students who are going to leave Howe school and explore other opportunities. Congratulations, friends! We reviewed what is left of the alphabet, “P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, & Z”. Our core word for this week was “You”. We read “You Are My” book from “Core First Learning” series. We listened to “Pete the Cat and the Cool Caterpillar” book by “James Dean”. We had fun in the Gym, Art, & music. We welcomed two new friends who they will join our family next year. Fatima & Violette welcome aboard:) Finally, we met our specialists OT, PT, & the SLPI. It was a very short and fun week!

Friends & Families, it was such a great honor and pleasure to work with each and everyone of you ๐Ÿ™‚ I truly enjoyed every moment with you, and I am looking forward to meeting you again next September ๐Ÿ™‚

Howe Spirit Week!

3:00 Fifth Grade Promotion Ceremony in the Courtyard

June 14th, Wednesday โ€“ Howe Spirit, Wear your Howe shirt or Red 

June 15th, Thursday โ€“  Spirit Day Theme: Summer Break Here We Come! Wear your sunglasses, sun hats, and summer attire (No swimwear or flip flops)

HALF DAY OF SCHOOL- Special Education will dismiss at 11:30 AM; Montessori will Dismiss at 12:05

June 16, Friday- SUMMER VACATION BEGINS!

What was happening in our classroom?

We had such a great week! We reviewed five letters of the alphabets, “K ,L ,M ,N ,O”. We reviewed the core word “You”. We started “You Are My” book from “Core First Learning” series. We also read and listened to “Pete the Cat and the Cool Caterpillar” book by “James Dean”. We learned about time in math. We made playdough with Ms. Emily & Ms. Lauren. we visited the Gym, Art, & the Music. We attended “Howe Spring Concert”, and we ended this week with participating in “Howe field day”. Definitely, we had a super excited week!

What was happening?

  1. For this week, we reviewed “F,G, H, I, & J”.
  2. We worked hard to trace, match, color, and sound out our letters for this week.
  3. For reading comprehension, we listened and participated in reading “I Like You” book from “Core First Learning” series.
  4. Our core words for this week were “You, I, & Like”.
  5. This week’s story was “The Very Lonely Firefly” book by “Eric Carle”.
  6. Math comprehension was about time, and measurement.
  7. We enjoyed visiting the Gym, Music, and Art.
  8. We also enjoyed working with the OT, PT, & the SLPI specialists.
  9. On Thursday, we had a great time on the Field Day at Edsel Ford High School.
  10. We finished this week by attending Howe School Concert.

Field Day Thursday

Greetings, Friends & Families!

All our special educationย programsย will attend Field Day at Edsel Ford High School on Thursday, June 1st, 2023, from 9:30-12:30. Buses will begin loading aroundย 9:00. It is a fun time and all our students will be there.ย  Lunch is provided for students at the field.
