The Exploration of the week of 10/30/2023

Greetings, Friends & Families!

What was happening in our classroom?

  1. This week we started our reading comprehension with the learning about a new core word “Stop”.
  2. We answered the reading comprehension questions, “What book did we read?” & “What was our core word?“, and for that we read “Stop! Said the Cop” book from the “Core First Learning” series.
  3. This week’s story was “If You Give A Pig A Pancake” by the author “Lauren Numeroff”, and illustrated by “Felicia Bond”.
  4. The letter of the week was the letter “H”.
  5. We worked on letter “H” worksheets. We made letter “H” crafts.
  6. The word “Hearts” starts with the letter “H”.
  7. For math comprehension, we started more & less concept.
  8. For science comprehension, we learned about calendar, seasons, & the Weather.
  9. In this week we met our physical therapist, Mrs. LaSandra, Mr. Al the occupational therapist, and our Speech therapist, Ms. Kaitlyn.
  10. We participated in the Gym, Art, & Music.

We would like to send big shout and so many thanks to Ms. Angi, a member of the PTA, who helped feeding one of our friends in our room(115). Also, the big shout and the so many thank you go to the U of M students who organized and sponsored Trunk or Treat celebration at Howe. It was a great delight and pleasure to see and meet such a wonderful group of young people.

What was happening in our classroom?

  1. This week we continued our reading comprehension with the learning about the core word “GO”.
  2. We answered the reading comprehension questions, “What book did we read?” & “What was our core word?“.
  3. We read “Go! Go! Go!” book from the “Core First Learning” series.
  4. This week’s story was “I know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie”. This book was written By “Alison Jackson” and illustrated by “Judith Byron Schachner”.
  5. This week, we learned about the letter “G”.
  6. We worked on letter “G” worksheets. We made letter “G” crafts.
  7. The word “Grapes” starts with the letter “G”.
  8. For math comprehension, we continued on counting numbers 1-10.
  9. We counted blocks, cubes, and our fingers, and we sang counting numbers song.
  10. For science comprehension, we learned about calendar, seasons, & the Weather.
  11. In this week we met our physical therapist, Mrs. LaSandra, Mr. Al the occupational therapist, and our Speech therapist, Ms. Kaitlyn.
  12. we also had so much fun in the Gym, Art, & Music.

  5. This week, we learned about the letter “F”.
  6. We worked on letter “F” worksheets. We made letter “F” crafts.
  7. The word “Flower” starts with the letter “F”.
  8. Our friend’s name, “Fatima”, starts with letter “F”!
  9. For math comprehension, we continued on counting numbers 1-10.

The Exploration of the week of 10/09/2023

Greetings, Friends & Families!

What was happening in our classroom?

Welcome to the second week of October! This week we continued our reading comprehension with the learning about the core word “GO”. We read “Go Fish” book from the “Core First Learning” series. This week’s story was “Pete The Cat: The Wheels on the Bus”. This book was written by James Dean. This week, we learned about the letter “E”. We made letter “E” crafts. The word “Egg” starts with the letter “E”. We also worked on letter “E” worksheets. We also talked about how to become a responsible student. We learned some rules that we can follow during the school day that help us to understand the meaning of responsibility. For math comprehension, we continued on counting numbers 1-10. We counted blocks, cubes, and our fingers, and we sang counting numbers song. For science comprehension, we learned about calendar, seasons, & the Weather. In this week we met our physical therapist, Mrs. LaSandra, Mr. Al the occupational therapist, and our Speech therapist, Ms. Kaitlin. we also had so much fun in the Gym, Art, & Music. We participated in our school assembly. The topic of the assembly was “Kindness”. We made a chain from construction papers that each piece of the chain has a visual that represents one way of showing kindness.

This week was our first week for the Early Release program. On every Tuesday, our dismissal time will be 1:30 PM.

Finally, on Friday, we met the U of M student group, known as the Creative Needs Project. This group volunteered in our classroom and help the student design and paint their own pumpkin.

What was happening in our classroom?

Welcome to the first week of October! This week we started our reading comprehension with the learning about the new core word “GO”. We read “Where did you go?” book from the “Core First Learning” series. This week’s story was “How Do Dinosaurs Go to School?”. This book was written by Jane Yolen and was illustrated by Mark Teague. This week, we learned about the letter “D”. We made letter “D” crafts. The word “Donut” starts with the letter “D”. We also worked on letter “D” worksheets. For math comprehension, we continued on counting numbers 1-10. We counted blocks, cubes, and our fingers, and we sang counting numbers song. For science comprehension, we learned about calendar, seasons, & the Weather.
