Due to several late developing factors that will impact our district, we are updating our current status and announcing that all Dearborn Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.Β Again, all Dearborn Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
Our first week of the year of 2024 was short. We started this week with a half day on Monday, then an early release day on Tuesday.
This month’s core word is “Like”, and we started this week our reading comprehension with a book tour through “Mothers & Babies” book from the “Core First Learning” series. Through walking the book’s pages, we will be able to answer our two reading comprehension questions, “What book did we read?” & “What was our core book?”.
The letter of the week was the letter “N”. We worked on letter “N” worksheet, and we did letter “N” craft. Letter “N” is for “Newspaper”.
Our math comprehension for the month of January is “Fractions”, and we will try to identify fractions “half and whole”.
The concept of Unique Learning System for the month of January is “I Can Be Healthy”.
This week’s story was “The Night Before New Year’s”. The author of this book is “Natasha Wing”, and the illustrator is “Amy Wummer”.
We visited Music on Monday & Thursday, Gym on Wednesday & Friday, and Art on Tuesday.
Our Congratulations go to our friend, Heba, for being a student of the month of December. Heba received a “Kindness Award” for being kind and helpful.

We started this week with a visit from “Creative Project” group. They were so sweet, kind and added the spirit of the season to our classroom. They also handed each one of our friends in the classroom a nice toy. Big shout and thanks to “Creative Project” group.

We visited Music on Monday & Thursday, Gym on Wednesday & Friday, and Art on Tuesday.
We ended this week and this school year (2023) with a Sing-A-long assembly. It was a great show that ended with a visit from Santa π

December 23rd/2023-January 7th/2024 No School/Winter Break.
This week, we revisited the letter “L”. We finished the letter “L” worksheets. For reading comprehension, we answered “What book did we read?” and “What was our core word?”. We read “Frightening” book from “Core First Learning” series, and our core word was “No”. The story of this week was “HomesickPenguin”. This book was written and illustrated by “Ken Bowser”. We are still learning about number sense, operations, and algebraic thinking, and these are our math concepts for the month of December. We visited Music on Monday & Thursday, Gym on Wednesday & Friday, and Art on Tuesday. Ms. Sandy, our PT, worked with us on Monday, Mr. Al, our OT, worked with us almost everyday. On Thursday, we attended ROAR assembly. “ROAR” stands for “Respect Others, Act Responsibly”.
Happy Birthday to our beautiful friend, Yassmin. She turned ten on Thursday:)
Friends & families, in my last week’s blog I forgot to mention that we started using the Unique Learning System. The month of December theme from the ULS is “The Gift of Giving”. In this unit’s book, students will learn about ways they can give, as well as how giving helps others. The book we started last week was “Give Giving a Try”, and we worked on worksheets that taught us the meaning of giving.

Happy Birthday to our beautiful friend, Esraa. She turned eight today. We will celebrate her beautiful birthday when she comes back to school next week!

“More & Less” was still our math concept for the month of November. We practiced this concept on math worksheets. We also visited the concept of counting numbers 1-10.

Congratulations to our beautiful friend, Fatima, for her recognition. Fatima was granted a character reward for being thankful for the good things and good people in her life! Gratitude was the character for the month of November.
