The Exploration of the week of 02/26/2024

Although it was a short week, still it was a VERY busy one! On this week:

  1. Monday, we had a regular day. We did our morning meeting in the morning, and we reviewed our core word, “Want”, and read “Eat The Rainbow” book from the “Core First Learning” series. Before we left the school, we read “Love Monster” book.
  2. Tuesday, there was no school for the students.
  3. Wednesday, dental cleaning was done for two of our friends in our room. Also, we had an amazing and beautiful celebration of our beloved Mrs. Cheryl who is retiring. We wished her the best luck on her new journey.
  4. Thursday, we welcomed “Creative Project” group again. They helped us making bracelets.
  5. Friday, we spent the whole morning visiting “Life Town” in west Bloomfield.

The Exploration of the week of 02/19/2024

  1. The letter of this week was the letter “S”.
  2. We worked on letter “S” worksheets. We did letter “S” craft, “S” is for “Sandwich”.
  3. Our core word for the month of February is “Want“. We answered our two reading comprehension questions, “What book did we read?”, and “What was our core word?”.
  4. We read “Hats” book from the “Core First Learning” series.
  5. ULS for this week was still “I Can Be Healthy”.
  6. “I can learn about shapes” is the math concept for the month of February, and that’s what we focused on through this last week. To improve our math comprehension, we counted numbers 1-10 during our morning meeting and throughout the day.
  7. This week’s story was “There was an old lady who swallowed a rose” book. The author is “Lucille Colandro”, and the illustrator is “Jared Lee”.
  8. We visited Music on Thursday, Gym on Wednesday & Friday, and Art on Tuesday.

We would like to send our appreciation to Detroit Indian Women’s Association for their generosity. This organization donated such amazing, gorgeous, and hand made blankets to our students. They were definitely made with love.

The Exploration of the week of 02/12/2024

The letter of this week was the letter “R”. We worked on letter “R” worksheets. We did letter “R” craft, “R” is for “Rain”. Our core word for the month of February is “Want“. We answered our two reading comprehension questions, “What book did we read?”, and “What was our core word?”. We read “Eat The Rainbow” book from the “Core First Learning” series. “I can learn about shapes” is the math concept for the month of February, and that’s what we focused on through this last week. To improve our math comprehension, we counted numbers 1-10 during our morning meeting and throughout the day. We worked on different Valentine’s day worksheet. This week’s story was “Love Monster” by “Rachel Bright”. We visited Music on Monday & Thursday, Gym on Wednesday & Friday, and Art on Tuesday. We met Mrs. Sandy(our PT) on Monday, Ms. Kaitlyn(our SLPI), and Mr. Al(our OT) on Tuesday.

The Exploration of the week of 02/05/2024

The letter of the week was the letter “Q”. We worked on letter “Q” worksheets. We did letter “Q” craft, “Q” is for “Queen”. Our core word for the month of February is “Want”. We answered our two reading comprehension questions, “What book did we read?”, and “What was our core word?”. We read “When I Want” book from the “Core First Learning” series. “Shapes” is the math concept for the month of February, and that’s what we focused on through this last week. To improve our math comprehension, we counted numbers 1-10 during our morning meeting and throughout the day. We talked about how there always consequences to our actions. Some are good and some are bad, and we made our choices on a worksheet that explained this topic. We also talked about different toppings that would be on top of a pizza or on top of an ice cream, and also we finished a worksheet for it. This week’s story was “Hugs & Kisses for the Grouchy Ladybug“. The author and the illustrator of this book is “Eric Carle”. We visited Music on Monday & Thursday, Gym on Wednesday & Friday, and Art on Tuesday. We ended this week with a visit from the Creative Project team who helped our kiddos in making Valentine’s boxes. Big thanks to this amazing group of students:)

  1. For this week, we were still reading “I Like Food” book from the “Core First Learning” series.
  2. We answered our two reading comprehension questions, “What book did we read?” & “What was our core book?”.
  3. The letter of the week was the letter “P”.
  4. We worked on letter “P” worksheets.
  5. We did letter “P” craft. The letter “P” is for “Pretzel”.
  6. We worked on “Our Body Parts” worksheet.
  7. “Shapes” is the math concept for the month of February.
  8. This week’s story was “Sneezy the Snowman”. The author is “Maureen Wright” and the illustrator is “Stephen Gilpin”.
  9. We visited Music on Monday & Thursday, Gym on Wednesday & Friday, and Art on Tuesday.
  10. Congratulations to our friend Heba for being recognized as the student of the month of January. Heba received the “Kindness Award”.

The Exploration of the week of 01/22/2024

  1. This month’s core word was still “Like”.
  2. “I Like Food” was our reading comprehension book from the “Core First Learning” series.
  3. Through walking the book’s pages, we answered our two reading comprehension questions, “What book did we read?” & “What was our core book?”.
  4. The letter of the week was the letter “O”.
  5. We worked on letter “O” worksheets.
  6. We did letter “O” craft. Letter “O” is for “Orange”.
  7. Our math comprehension for the month of January is “Fractions”.
  8. We practiced identifying fractions “half and whole”.
  9. We counted numbers 1-10.
  10. The concept of Unique Learning System for the month of January is “I Can Be Healthy”.
  11. This week’s story was “The Snowy Day”. This book was written and illustrated by “Ezra Jack Keats”.
  12. We enjoyed doing “Pop Rocks” science experiment.
  13. We visited Music on Monday & Thursday, Gym on Wednesday & Friday.
  14. We met Ms. Vannoord, our speech specialist, Ms LaSandra, our physical therapist, and Mr. Al, our occupational specialist.
  15. We ended this week with our first CBI for this year. We went swimming at the Ford Community & Performing Center in Dearborn. It was such a healthy, educational, and fun experience.
