The Exploration of the week of 04/15/2024

  1. We started this week with a CBI activity to Life Town on Monday.
  2. The letter of this week was the letter “W”.
  3. We did letter “W” craft, “W” is for “Worm”.
  4. We did letter “W” worksheets.
  5. Our core word for the month of April is “Can“.
  6. We answered our two reading comprehension questions, “What book did we read?”, and “What was our core word?”.
  7. We read “Transportation Riddles” book from the “Core First Learning” series.
  8. This week’s story was “A little Book About Spring”. This book was written & illustrated by “Leo Lionni”.
  9. Our ELA focus for the month of April is “Illustrations & Word Recognition”.
  10. Our math focus for the month of April is “Measurement & Data”, and the key concepts are “Time, Money, & Graphs”.
  11. ULS topic for the month of April is “Life Science: Plants Can Grow”.
  12. On Tuesday, we went to Art class. On Thursday, we went to music, and on Wednesday and Friday, we went to the Gym.
  13. This week, we were very excited doing our science experiment: How does a plant drink water? We wrote down our hypothesis: Water won’t move up!, OR, water moves up! Then, we observed our celery for few days to check for any changes. Finally, we wrote down our findings. We noticed that the celery leaves turned to blue and red(the food coloring we used)! That proved the water actually moved up! And this is how a plant drinks water!

  5. We read “The Sleepover” book from the “Core First Learning” series.
  6. Our ELA focus for the month of April is “Illustrations & Word Recognition”.

  8. ULS topic for the month of April is “Life Science: Plants Can Grow”.
  9. This week’s story was “Don’t Push The Button! An Easter Surprise!”. This book was written & illustrated by Bill Cotter.
  10. On Monday, we met our physical therapy specialist, Ms. LaSandra, and on Friday, we met our speech therapist, Ms. Katie Lorenz.
  11. On Monday & Thursday, we went to Music class. On Tuesday, we went to Art class, and on Wednesday and Friday, we went to the Gym.
  12. On Friday, Howe preschoolers visited our classroom and gave us “Eid AlFitr” treats. Big thank you to them and to their classroom’s staff.

  2. We worked on letter “U” worksheets. We did letter “U” craft, “U” is for “ugly Fruit”.
  3. Our core word for the month of March is “You“.
  4. We answered our two reading comprehension questions, “What book did we read?”, and “What was our core word?”.
  5. We read “You Are My” book from the “Core First Learning” series.
  6. “I can compare objects and identify which is tall and short” was our math objective for the month of March.
  7. ULS topic for this month is “Earth & Space Science: Tell me about the Weather”.
  8. This week’s story was “There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Clover!”. The book’s author is “Lucille Colandro“.
  9. We met our physical therapy specialist, Ms. LaSandra, and our speech therapist, Ms. Katie Lorenz.
  10. We also participated in GYM, ART, & Music.
  11. On Monday, we met “Creative Project” group who read a story to us and helped us making a cat craft. Big shout and thank you “Creative Project” group. We love you πŸ™‚

Dream Dearborn Survey

The Disabilities, Research, Education, Advocacy, Movement (DREAM) organization has developed a survey to assess the quality of life of children and adolescents with intellectual disabilities.   10. The month of March objectives are: I can identify what the character did in a familiar story. I can explore books independently! And, I can compare objects andΒ identify which is tall and short.
