Poem of the week
Dreams
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

Poem of the week
Perhaps
All day long the penguins play
in the cold Antarctic sea-
diving
splashing
leaping
dashing
in slippery, flippery glee.
While other birds chase blue-sky dreams
the sea to penguins sings-
perhaps they aren’t birds at all
but fish with feet and wings.

This week our focus was the letter “O”. “O” is for “owl” which we did for our craft. We traced, colored, & sang songs that represented the letter “O”. For reading comprehension, we started “Sneezy The Snowman” book by Maureen Wright and Stephen Gilpin. We tried our best to answer, “What book did we read?” and ” Who is the character in the story?”. From the Core learning series, we started our core word “Go”. Our book for this week from this series is “Go! Go! Go!”. We practiced counting numbers 1-10 for math comprehension. On Monday, we had a half day. On Thursday, we had a snow day, while on Friday, we had so much fun visiting Ann Arbor hands-on museum. Also, we celebrated one of our friends’ birthday. Happy Birthday, Youssef 🙂
Please, check my blog for today’s field trip to the Ann Arbor Hands-on Museum.

Poem of the week
How to Talk to your Snowman
Use words that are pleasing
Like: freezing
And snow,
Iceberg and igloo
And blizzard and blow,
Try: Arctic, Antarctic,
Say: shiver and shake,
But whatever you never say,
Never say: bake.
———— Beverly McLoughland.

Poem of the week
A Secret
Do you know why the pine trees
Stand so straight and tall,
Spread their branches thick and fine,
And never stoop at all?
It really is a secret
Which the North Wind told to me:
Every pine tree hopes some day
To be a Christmas tree.
