The Exploration of the week of 11/20/2023

Greetings, Friends & Families!

What was happening in our classroom?

  1. Since it is a very quick and short school week, therefore, we chose to review last week’s letter of the week, the letter “J”.
  2. We finished what was left over from last week’s worksheets of the letter “J”.
  3. We reviewed the core word “Stop” so we can answer the reading comprehension questions, “What book did we read?” & “What was our core word?“.
  4. We reviewed “Don’t Stop” book from the “Core First Learning” series.
  5. We read and listened to “Five Silly Turkeys” book by the author “Salina Yoon”.
  6. “More & Less” was still our math concept for the month of November. We practiced this concept on math worksheets.
  7. We also visited the concept of counting numbers 1-10.
  8. Mrs. Sandy, our physical specialist, visited us yesterday.
  9. We visited music on Monday, while we were at Art today(Tuesday).
  10. We ended this week by participating in making a Turkey with the Creative Needs Project group.

The Exploration of the week of 11/13/2023

Greetings, Friends & Families!

What was happening in our classroom?

We still were working on our reading comprehension with the learning about the core word “Stop”. Again, we answered the reading comprehension questions, “What book did we read?” & “What was our core word?“, and for that we read “Don’t Stop” book from the “Core First Learning” series. This week’s story was “I’m Looking for a Turkey”. The letter of the week was the letter “J”. We worked on letter “J” worksheets, and we made letter “J” crafts. The word “Jelly Beans” starts with the letter “J”. More & less is our concept for math comprehension for the month of November, and we practiced this topic on “more & less” worksheet. We compered turkey feathers to decided which group is more & which one is less. We also made “counting pumpkins” book. For extra math practice, we did a worksheet that explained what would be the new time if it falls back or it jumps ahead! Also, we met our physical therapist, Mrs. LaSandra, Mr. Al, the occupational therapist, and our Speech therapist, Ms. Kaitlyn. We had a fantastic time at the Gym, Art, & Music.

Greetings, Friends & Families!

What was happening in our classroom?

This week we continued our reading comprehension with the learning about the core word “Stop”. We answered the reading comprehension questions, “What book did we read?” & “What was our core word?“, and for that we read “Stop Doing That” book from the “Core First Learning” series. This week’s story was “In November” by “Cynthia Rylant” and illustrated by “Jill Kastner”. The letter of the week was the letter “I”. We worked on letter “I” worksheets, and we made letter “H” crafts. The word “Ice Cream” starts with the letter “I”. For math comprehension, we continued on the concept of more & less. In this week we met our physical therapist, Mrs. LaSandra, Mr. Al the occupational therapist, and our Speech therapist, Ms. Kaitlyn, we also participated in the Gym, Art, & Music. We ended our week with a visit to the Henry Ford Village as part of our CBI.

As always, dear parents, it is very essential to help our children grow a love for reading. What was happening in our classroom?

  1. This week we started our reading comprehension with the learning about a new core word “Stop”.
  2. We answered the reading comprehension questions, “What book did we read?” & “What was our core word?“, and for that we read “Stop! Said the Cop” book from the “Core First Learning” series.
  3. This week’s story was “If You Give A Pig A Pancake” by the author “Lauren Numeroff”, and illustrated by “Felicia Bond”.
  4. The letter of the week was the letter “H”.
  5. We worked on letter “H” worksheets. We made letter “H” crafts.
  6. The word “Hearts” starts with the letter “H”.
  7. For math comprehension, we started more & less concept.
  8. For science comprehension, we learned about calendar, seasons, & the Weather.
  9. In this week we met our physical therapist, Mrs. LaSandra, Mr. Al the occupational therapist, and our Speech therapist, Ms. Kaitlyn.
  10. We participated in the Gym, Art, & Music.

We would like to send big shout and so many thanks to Ms. Angi, a member of the PTA, who helped feeding one of our friends in our room(115). Also, the big shout and the so many thank you go to the U of M students who organized and sponsored Trunk or Treat celebration at Howe. It was a great delight and pleasure to see and meet such a wonderful group of young people.

  2. We answered the reading comprehension questions, “What book did we read?” & “What was our core word?“.
  3. We read “Go! Go! Go!” book from the “Core First Learning” series.
  4. This week’s story was “I know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie”. This book was written By “Alison Jackson” and illustrated by “Judith Byron Schachner”.
  5. This week, we learned about the letter “G”.
  6. We worked on letter “G” worksheets. We made letter “G” crafts.
  7. The word “Grapes” starts with the letter “G”.
  8. For math comprehension, we continued on counting numbers 1-10.
  9. We counted blocks, cubes, and our fingers, and we sang counting numbers song.
  10. For science comprehension, we learned about calendar, seasons, & the Weather.
  11. In this week we met our physical therapist, Mrs. LaSandra, Mr. Al the occupational therapist, and our Speech therapist, Ms. Kaitlyn.
  12. we also had so much fun in the Gym, Art, & Music.
