Greetings, Friends & Families!
What was happening in our classroom?
We had a very busy week! It was filled with “Care to the Core” activities. We started this theme with painting a picnic table in the courtyard with our hand prints. We filled some worksheets that represented the meaning of this theme, we watched some videos and songs that showed acts of how to be kind and loving. On Tuesday, we had an early release day. On Thursday, we had fire drill and “Apple Crunch” day. We ended the week with “Trunk Or Treat” with the “Creative Project” group.
Along this week, we reviewed last week’s letter of the week, the letter “E”. For reading comprehension, we started a new core word, the word “Stop”. For that, we made a book walk through the book “Stop! Said the Cop!” from the “Core First Learning” series. This week’s story was “Pete the Cat Five Little Pumpkins” by “James Dean”. ELA objectives for the month of October that we are focusing on is “I can identify characters and setting in a familiar story”. Also, this week we started “Reading Buddy”, in which students from Mrs. Keebler class will come and read a book for us. This week Ali & Mahdi read a book for Fatima and Ahmed. Big shouts and thank you for both of them. For math comprehension, we counted numbers 1-10. We counted our fingers, blocks, pictures, and on our communication devices, as well as we sang counting songs. Math objectives for the month of October that we are focusing on is “I can pair each object with one and only one number”. Our “ULS” focus for the month of October is “Go, Team, Go!”. We went to Music and met Mrs. Reed, Gym and met Mr. Borg, and to the Art and met Mrs. Nada. We met our physical therapist (Mrs. Sandy) and the occupational therapist (Mrs. Andrea).
A Friendly Reminder, dear parents, it is very essential to help our children grow a love for reading. Reading every night with your child helps strengthen the relationship between both of you, as well as the love of reading.
