Greetings Flyers Family,
This week in P.E. our Y5’s-2nd graders will put their skills to the test as we learn to play indoor soccer. We will place an emphasis on some of the skills we learned the past few weeks and place an emphasis on teamwork, dribbling/control, instep kick (shoelaces) and having a understanding of soccer game.
Our 3rd-5th grade students will move into a basketball unit where our primary focus this week will be on control with the basketball. Students will build confidence through a series of progressions such as slaps, taps and wraps as well as dribbling and using an arm guard (shielding the ball with opposite arm) that will be served as a lead up to game play in a few short weeks down the road.

This Week in P.E.
Greetings Flyers Family,
This week in P.E. our Y5’s-1st graders will be entering a soccer unit where we will learn how to control the soccer ball with a variety of activities. In soccer, having control (possession of the ball close to your body) is an important foundation skill that will lead to your child’s success with other skills used in the game such as passing and kicking. I can’t wait to see our students in action!
Our 2nd-5th grade students will put their skills to the test as we learn to play indoor soccer. We will place an emphasis on teamwork, positional play, knowing the basic rules and history of soccer as well our focus of the unit, the instep kick (power shot using the laces of our shoes).

Cipriano Run Monday October 15th
Dear Parents,
If your child signed up to compete in the Cipriano run please have them arrive to Ford Field at least 25 minutes before their race. Please wait with your child until you hear your child’s race called. I will be going back and forth between the starting line to see our students compete and the awards ceremony. I may or may not see your child at the starting as I will be moving around to multiple areas the day of the event, but please have them look for other Lindbergh Flyer students wearing their Lindbergh Flyers gear.
Ford Field is located at 500 Monroe St in Dearborn. Parking is available on the lower level of Ford Field near the baseball diamonds just west of Brady St. Parents are free to leave after the race. If you think your child placed 1st-10th you will want to stay for the awards ceremony. As always, thank you for your support.
Dear Students,
Make sure you get a good nights rest. Please dress for the weather. If you have a Lindbergh Flyers shirt, please wear it so we can spot you in the crowd. Please remember to have your bib pinned to the front of your shirt before you get to Ford Field. If you come without the bib (receive it Monday at school), unfortunately there will not be a replacement for you.

This Week in P.E.
Greetings Flyers Family,
This week, for grades 1st-5th we will focus on teamwork and cooperation as we cross the infected river as a team by using rocks and wood planks (poly spot and foam balance beam) to get to safety on the other side. Students will compete in four different levels/challenges that get more challenging and inspire students to work collectively in an attempt to get safely to the other side together. Do they have what it takes to cross the river? Additionally, students will have an opportunity to play Slap Scatter and Pac-Man as we finish out the week.
For grades Y5’s-K we are learning how to move our bodies at high and low levels with a game called Slap Scatter. Additionally, students will be focusing and discussing the importance of personal space and moving at different speeds with Turtle Tag and Pac-Man while building on our classroom routine as the week progresses.
***Reminder: Late start on Wednesday, September 19th***
