Welcome to Physical Education!

Dear Parents or Guardians,

Greetings on behalf of the Physical Education program at Lindbergh Elementary School.  I am delighted to have your child in class this year! Physical Education classes will be held three times a week for our Young Five’s and Kindergarteners and twice a week for our 1st-5th grade students (45 minutes classes). Through Physical Education, students will grasp the knowledge, physical skills and social skills necessary to lead and sustain a physically active lifestyle.

For your child’s safety, your child must wear tennis shoes or soft-soled shoes throughout our time together in P.E. These shoes should cover the toes, and give adequate support to the foot and ankle.  Dress shoes, cowboy boots, sandals, flip flops, clogs, Crocs, or tie up shoes that are left unlaced do not supply proper support to your child’s feet and ankles and should not be worn. Proper shoes prevents the risk of injury as there is a lot of movement involved in Physical Education class.

In the event that your child is unable to participate in class due to a physical injury or any other health related concerns, I ask that you send a note to class so that I can make alternative plans to accommodate their needs.

I believe that the upcoming year will be exciting, and one in which your child experiences many physical successes.  I look forward to the opportunity of meeting each of you throughout the school year.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at harveyj@dearbrnschools.org.  I also invite you to sign up for my blog when I post important information and events (link provided below). This will assist in keeping track of the exciting things we are working on this year.  I am so honored and excited to share my passion of teaching P.E. with your child!  Thank you for your support, and let’s make this year a great and exciting school year.
