This Week in PE

Dear Flyers Family,

Last week, I was excited to have the students put their bowling skills to the test as we turned the gym into Lindbergh Lanes.  Students were able to learn about the history, grip of the ball and approach (steps and sequences) as well as the rules and strategies used in the sport of bowling.

This week, our lesson focus is on the overhand throw.  Students will be using the overhand throw in a game called Hula Hut Take down as they work together as a team in various roles (attackers, defenders, builders) in an effort to take down the opposing teams hula huts while trying to keep theirs up!

Additionally, 4th & 5th grade students will be participating in the PACER test.  Which stands for Progressive Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run.  We have worked very hard all year to build up are cardiovascular endurance through various exercises and activities.  With the PACER test I will teach/review with students the tips and techniques used while running (breathing, pacing and runners gait etc) and put our bodies to the test.  ** Please note that any 4th and 5th grade students that are participating in Ramadan and fasting will have an alternative date to perform the PACER test in June after the celebration and conclusion of Ramadan.**  Thank you for your support and understanding.

Have a wonderful day,

Mr. Harvey
