Friday 2/28/2025

We continued looking at Japan and students answered questions over the Ch. 28 sec. 2 Textbook Talkie. We also watched a segment of historical fiction from The Last Samurai.

Thursday 2/27/25

We introduced Japan, and students completed a handout on Early Japan Stuff. They also answered questions over the Ch. 12 sec. 4 Textbook Talkie. After discussing examples of Haiku, students answered questions on the Ch. 19. sec. 3 Textbook Talkie.

Wednesday 2/26/25

I reviewed China from last semester, and then students completed the handout on the Qing Dynasty. Students then answered questions over the Ch. 28 sec. 1 Textbook Talkie. We also discussed the Opium Wars and the Treaty of Nanjing.

Monday 2/24/2025

We discussed Friday’s guided notes over CH. 27 sec. 4 and then briefly discussed the Pacific Rim countries, including Hawaii. The Ch. 27 sec. 3-5 Questions were passed back, as well.

Friday 2/21/2025

The Ch. 27 sec. 3-5 Textbook Questions were collected at the start of the hour. We introduced Geopolitics and went over a chart of examples geopolitical locations of the 1800s. Students were also given time to work on the Ch. 27 sec. 4 Guided Notes– due on Monday.

Thursday 2/20/2025

Students took the Ch. 26 + 27 sec. 1-2 Test, and then were given time to work on the Ch. 27 sec. 3-5 Textbook Questions– due tomorrow.

Wednesday 2/19/2025

We discussed yesterday’s White Man’s Burden/ Black Man’s Burden, and then went over the forms of imperialism and the methods of control (page 780). We also filled in a chart over the positives and negatives of imperialism in Africa. *Ch. 26 + Ch. 27 sec. 1-2 Test tomorrow!*

Tuesday 2/18/2025

After reviewing the Congo Free State, students completed document C and D from last week over technology and resources. We also looked at the ABCs for Baby Patriots, then students were given time to complete the White Man’s Burden/ Black Man’s Burden handout.

Friday 2/14/2025

We discussed the answers to Wednesday’s background essay, and then students completed the Document A + B questions, which we also discussed. We then watched a clip over rubber and the Belgian Congo.

Wednesday 2/12/2025

We finished up our maps of Africa and then answered questions over a clip on the Scramble for Africa. We also discussed the vocabulary chart over Ch. 27 sec. 2, and then students were given time to work on the background essay on driving forces of imperialism in Africa.
