WHaG with Mr. Harrison

We discussed the metaphor on appeasement, and then discussed the Munich Conference. Students copied definitions from Ch. 31 sec. 3-4, then we discussed reasons for and against appeasing Hitler. Students were also given time to complete the Ch. 32 sec. 1 Chart.

We discussed yesterday’s chart and then watched a video on the Germany in the 1930s. Students also completed questions over a primary source on Hitler’s speeches.

We introduced Fascism and discussed/ reviewed the effects of the Treaty of Versailles on Germany. Students were also give a little time to work on the Ch. 31 sec. 3-4 Textbook Questions — due tomorrow.

We discussed the calendar for the rest of the semester, and then reviewed the process for choosing a new Pope. Students then answered questions over a documentary on the parallel lives of Adolf Hitler and Charlie Chaplin.

Students took the Ch. 30 “Quest” during the first half of class, then we watched a clip of Charlie Chaplin’s Modern Times.

The Ch. 30 sec. 4 Questions were checked and discussed at the start of class, including Kemal Ataturk. We then reviewed for tomorrow “Quest” by going over the CH. 30 sec. 1-2 answers. Students received a study guide to prepare for tomorrow’s Ch. 30 Quest.

Students completed the questions over nationalism in India, and then we went through Ch. 30 sec. 4 India Chart together. Students were then given time to work on the Ch. 30 sec. 4 Textbook Questions– due on Wednesday.

Ch. 30 “Quest” on Thursday!

We finished discussing China between the wars, and then watched a video on Gandhi’s nonviolent attempts and Indian independence.

We discussed Stalin’s Totalitarianism and then compared the Russian Revolutions to the book (and characters) in Animal Farm. We then answered questions over the Ch. 30 sec. 3 Textbook Talkie on China between the wars.

We answered questions over part of a film on the Last Emperor of China.
