Online Learning & Report Cards

Good afternoon! I hope everyone has enjoyed their break!

Today was our first video chat lesson and there were a few hiccups, but it was great to be able to learn together again! I am so thankful for everyone’s patience as we work out the technology part of this. Moving forward we will continue these zoom lessons Tuesday through Friday. Tuesdays and Thursdays will focus on Math. Wednesdays and Fridays will focus on reading. These lessons will start at noon so please be on time! Also make sure students have a pencil and paper ready to go to show their work! See you tomorrow!

Report cards this card marking are not able to be printed. They will be posted on parent connect. In order to do this you will need to go to https://dearbornschools.org/parent-community-portal/ and click on Parent Connect. From there it will ask for your pin and password. If you do not know yours, please send me a message on remind and I can get that for you! When you are logged in it should be a pdf located under marks. This is for marking period 3.

Any questions don’t hesitate to message me on remind!

Thanks! πŸ™‚

Next Food Mobile Pantry & Survey

Good afternoon! Happy Friday! Hope everyone is doing well. There will be another Food Mobile Pantry on Tuesday. Here is the flyer:

Also, there’s a short survey we are asking parents to fill out. It is just a few short questions and also gives some ideas for things to do at home if the kids are getting bored. If you click the link it will take you to the survey. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdJOIp_6kpeyCiOyyv-BX97yL1QtRBgLP35r9gObaIyA7i4zw/viewform

Online Resources during Remote Learning

Good morning! I hope everyone is doing okay and staying healthy during this time away from school! I know this is a big change for everyone, but we will get through it! I appreciate the students that have been keeping up with their Freckle and taking their time on their work. These scores are part of your report card grade so it is crucial you are taking your time on them. The expectations are the same from homework. If you are rushing and not getting a good score, you are expected to do extra practice. I am continuously checking this throughout the day and will be contacting home if need be.

As of now Freckle will be your daily assigned work from me. Although that is the only work that is assigned, there is a lot out there that you can do to keep up with your learning! Reading everyday is an expectation! You may read books from your book bag, from the library, from the classroom or books you have at home. I am attaching a list of comprehension questions that you could ask yourself, write down in a notebook, or have a parent or sibling ask you to check your comprehension. You could also type them on Google Docs and share them with me, I would love to see them πŸ™‚

There are also many great resources online that are offering free services with everything going on. I am attaching a list below of many free resources out there for students to go on that will help them continue their education throughout this month away from the classroom.

As always I will continue to post any updates on Remind over the next month. Remind is a very easy way for you to get ahold of me if need be. Please reach out at any time with any questions or concerns that you have! Students also have an email from the district (their 2010 number followed by @dearbornschools.org). You can email me with any questions or concerns on there as well.

Thank you for your continued support!

Ms. Hankard

School Closing

Good morning! With schools being closed from now until April 13th, our learning will be completed through our online platforms. Students need to be going on Freckle Monday through Friday and complete the assignments I have assigned. Students should also be reading at home daily.
