Please ensure students have the following notebooks for class starting next week. All students were provided with a notebook for their morning work but they need more notebooks.
P.S. These are what I am requiring them to label on the cover of their notebooks.
I have sent the following books home for extra math and reading practice. They are for them to keep and work on independently.
Welcome to the 2017-18 school year! I am looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. I would like to take this moment to introduce myself. My name is Zane Hammoud and I will be your child’s 5th grade teacher. This will be my 4th year teaching in the classroom and I am really excited. I am a graduate of Wayne State University (2013) with a major in integrated science and elementary education. I am very fortunate to be in a profession where I get to work with kids on a daily basis. In my opinion, there is nothing more exciting or rewarding than teaching. I am a firm believer that an effective “education is the passport to a brighter future.”
A good parent-teacher relationship is essential to a student’s success in the classroom. Throughout the year, I will be communicating with you through notes, telephone calls, progress reports, report cards, parent-teacher conferences and email. I believe in an open door policy and you are always welcome in the classroom. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time during the school year. You can reach me at (313) 827-6850 before or after school. You can also send me a note or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I also encourage parents to take an active role in participating in classroom and school activities (i.e. birthdays, classroom parties, field trips, school plays, sporting events, concerts etc.) that your son/daughter may be involved in. Your support of these activities will benefit your son/daughter tremendously. Participating in such activities will also allow you to take part of the rich opportunities available here at Miller Elementary.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, concerns or would just like to know more about my classroom and your child’s progress. I appreciate your support and look forward to meeting you soon. I am really looking forward to working with your son/daughter this year and hope I can rely on your support at home.
Mr. Zane Hammoud
Certain students have been selected to participate in this year’s summer school program at Miller. It is a pink paper that was sent home yesterday and needs to be returned asap if you would like to have your child participate in this great opportunity. Our students need more practice with reading and math which is what this program offers. Please consider joining.
A note was sent home last week about our first grade picnic on Wednesday, May 31st. Since our lunch is at 11:15, we will be eat lunch as usual, but have our picnic snack from 1:00-2:30. The children may bring a blanket to sit on to rest during our long recess. They may also bring a bottle of water, balls, jump ropes and other outdoor equipment.
A note was sent home today to ask for your help. If you have not completed the online survey yet, please take a few minutes tonight to answer a few questions. Thanks for your help! 🙂
The online survey will be available from 5/9/17 to 5/31/17. In order to complete the survey, please click on this link:https://goo.gl/GSx4xK
