Weekly Objectives February 13th – February 17th

This week we will celebrate Valentine’s Day on Tuesday.  If you would like to send in cards please send them on that day.  If you are providing any type of food treats such as candy, we just ask that they be wrapped up for students to take home. We have 28 students in our class, please make sure we have enough for everyone to share.

We also have late start this Wednesday.  School will begin at 9:30.

Here is what we will be studying this week:

**We will be taking the WIDA test this week please encourage your child to do his/her best .

Reading:

RL 4.1 Refer to details and examples in a fantasy when explaining what the texts says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text.
RL 4.2 Determine a theme of a fantasy from details in a text; summarize the text.
L.4.1(g) Correctly use frequently confused words (e.g., to, too, two; there, their).

Math:

 Find whole-number quotients and remainders with up to four-digit dividends and one-digit divisors, using strategies based on place value, the properties of operations, and/or the relationship between multiplication and division. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.

Science: Soil Composition-

  • Students will learn that soils are composed of essential the same types of materials (inorganic earth materials and humus).
  • what is soil?
  • What causes big rocks to break down into smaller rocks?

Social Studies:

4-C3.0.1 Give examples of ways the Constitution limits the powers of the federal government

4-C3.0.5 Give examples of how the system of checks and balances limits the power of the federal government

Describe the structure of government in the United States and how it functions to serve citizens.

Math: 4.MD.5 Recognize angles as geometric shapes that are formed wherever two rays share a common endpoint, and understand concepts of angle measurement:

Ability to recognize angles as geometric shapes where two rays share a common endpoint.

4.MD.5.a An angle is measured with reference to a circle with its center at the common endpoint of the rays, by considering the fraction of the circular arc between the points where the two rays intersect the circle. An angle that turns through 1/360 of a circle is called a “one-degree angle,” and can be used to measure angles.

Science:

E.ST.04.11 Identify the sun and moon as common objects in the sky.

E.ST.04.12 Compare and contrast the characteristics of the sun, moon and Earth, including relative distances and abilities to support life.
