March is Reading Month.  To celebrate, we will be hosting guest readers.  We would love it if you are able to read to our class sometime this month.  If you are interested in reading to the class, please email me or send in a note with your child on days or times that work best for you and I will contact you to schedule you to read.

Weekly Objectives- February 27th – March 3rd

Welcome Back!! I hope you had a great and relaxed break! Here is our objectives for this week.

 

Reading:

RI 4.3 – Explain events, procedures, ideas, or concepts in a historical, scientific, or technical text, including what happened and why, based on specific information in the text.

L.4.2(c)  Use a comma before a coordinating conjunction in a compound sentence.

L.4.1(d)  Order adjectives within sentences according to conventional patterns (e.g., a small red bag rather than a red small bag)

L 4.4.c Consult reference materials (e.g., dictionaries, glossaries, thesauruses), both print and digital, to find the pronunciation and determine or clarify the precise meaning of keywords and phrases: I can use reference materials to find the pronunciation and meaning of keywords and phrases

 

Math:

4.MD.5 Recognize angles as geometric shapes that are formed wherever two rays share a common endpoint, and understand concepts of angle measurement:

4.MD.7 Recognize angle measure as additive. When an angle is decomposed into non-overlapping parts, the angle measure of the whole is the sum of the angle measures of the parts. Solve addition and subtraction problems to find unknown angles on a diagram in real world and mathematical problems, e.g., by using an equation with a symbol for the unknown angle measure.

4.NBT.6 Find whole-number quotients and remainders with up to four-digit dividends and one-digit divisors, using strategies based on place value, the properties of operations, and/or the relationship between multiplication and division. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.

 

Social Studies:

4 – C3.0.1 Give examples of ways the Constitution limits the powers of the federal government (e.g., election of public officers, separation of powers, checks and balances, Bill of Rights).

 

4 – C1.0.2 Explain probable consequences of an absence of government and of rules and laws.
4 – C1.0.3 Describe the purposes of government as identified in the Preamble of the Constitution.

Science: 4-ESS1-1 Identify evidence from patterns in rock formations and fossils in rock layers to support an explanation for changes in landscape over time.
