Today we will begin our Research Unit! I have a lot of different things planned for you that you will enjoy. Today we will have a refresher of what the MEL database is and how to navigate through it. Our first research activity involves you doing research on an animal of your choice using a database.
We have learned how to find picture books, fictional books, and graphic novels in our library using our Destiny Catalog. How do we find nonfiction books? What do the numbers on nonfiction books’ spines mean? We are going to turn into Dewey Decimal System Detectives today. All you need is a pencil and clipboard! You will also checkout at least ONE Non-Fiction book from SORA before you leave.
Winter Break is here!! After answering your classmate’s Google Surveys there are a lot of fun holiday activities and stories to look at and choose from.
What is a survey? Why are they important? What do we use them for? After we learn the answers to these questions, we can create our own surveys today! We will collect the data next week.
Let’s review several library terms and ideas that we have learned this year. After reviewing let’s test your skills with a Blooket.

We are going to take a break a from Digital Citizenship to have some Halloween fun. After my Spooktacular read-aloud, you can choose between creating your own Halloween Animation or Build your own Jack-o-Lantern. I will model how to do both.
We will continue with our Digital Citizenship unit and focus on Privacy and Safety.
