Math Club
Just a reminder that Math Club STARTS at 8:15. Some students are arriving at 8:00, and that’s too early! Mr. Wahl and I use this time to plan and get ready for the day. Students may come in at 8:10, hang up coats and backpacks, and be ready for directions by 8:15. Anyone who walks in after 8:15 may stay, but do not get Gwizdz bucks for Math Club. Any questions, please let me know!
Honor Roll Criteria
This year, the staff at Geer Park has decided that we need a universal Honor Roll system. Up until now, it was left up to the teacher to determine who earned Honor Roll status. The new guidelines are strict, yet fair. We feel that the Honor Roll should be for those students who go above and beyond to make the most out of their educational experience. With that said, here are the new requirements:
1. A minimum of 85% of grades are 1’s and 2’s
2. A maximum of 15% of grades are 3’s and 4’s
3. 4’s cannot be in core subject areas (language arts, math, science, social studies) or core values (life skills)
Any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Paragraph of the Week Homework
Because we ran out of time, our Paragraph of the Week assignment must be homework. Here are the directions:
It is time to put all of your work
together in the form of a paragraph.
The topic sentence goes first,
followed by the detail, explanation
combo sentences. The last sentence is
your closing sentence.
Reread it all and make sure it makes
sense. It should all be about the same
topic, give lots of information, and be
written in complete sentences.
Subject/Verb Agreement Retake
There will be an opportunity to retake today’s Subject/Verb Agreement test in Language Arts. If your child got less than 70%, it is expected that he/she retake the test. Retakes will take place Thursday afternoon, during Daily 5. In order to ensure success, parents can help children study by going on Studyisland.com, choosing ELA (Common Core) and then choosing Subject/Verb Agreement. Practice makes perfect! Please let me know if you have concerns. Thanks!
