Happenings the week of March 20th-24th
8th Grade:
Students are finishing up their Biotechnology unit by creating an artificial arm model and then spending Wednesday without the use of one arm. They have many concerns about how they will be able to function on Wednesday. Most students are able to do very well. Good luck 8th graders.
Our next activity is Manufacturing Technology. Students will learn how everyday items are manufactured for us to use. We will learn about the Design Process used in manufacturing which will help us to create a new shoe. Each student will for their own shoe company, measure their own foot and design a shoe to use for either dress wear, athletic wear, sandals or boots. Next students will advertise their shoe using photos of their shoes to try to sell their product in a commercial. This activity will take approximately four weeks to complete.
Extra Credit opportunity:
Create a poster showing all parts of the design process as found doing a search on Google Images. You may use any of the design process images you find. These are the requirements:
8 1/2″ X 11″ printer paper
Must include the definition of each step on the poster
Colorful and Neat.
NOT done in class, done at home.
Must be turned in by March 31st.
