JOURNAL:  Poet – – Which 3 poets have interested you the most so far and why?  Explain.

1.Finish annotating Poem #3 and submit 

2.Team Teacher Poster Challenge : You work for the Really Good Stuff teacher resource company.  The company creates and sells the most teacher resources in the country!  One resource that your company sells the most of every year are POSTERS!  Especially cute poster sets (You know teachers; they are suckers for colorful poster sets that cover all the empty wall space they have).  Your team’s job is to create a poster or a set of posters that teaches students how to annotate poems, instructs them on at least three different types of figurative language, and teaches them the difference between mood and tone.

3.Review rubric

JOURNAL:  PSAT – – Reflect on your first experience with the PSAT test from last Friday.  Needs to be at least ¾ a page.

1. Review any questions may have had from last Friday’s PSAT practice reading

2. Read all 12 poems in Google Classroom and chose 3 that you are most interested in.

3.Annotate your top three poems

HOMEWORK:  If you have not finished annotating the three poems, please finish TWO of them at home. You will have time tomorrow to finish the 3rd one.

6th Grade

JOURNAL:  Would You Rather- – live without the internet or live without AC and heating?  Explain.

1.Finish mini-presentations.

2.Cut Apart activity – students cut apart sentence strips and then put them in an order that created the outline of an argumentative essay.

HOMEWORK:  Make sure that you are reading your library books.

Worked on Mini- presentation topics – two groups get the same topic, but one group does it as persuasive and the other group   does it as argumentative.

JOURNAL:  Second Semester – – Reflect on your first semester and set realistic goals for your last semester as an 8th grader.  REMEMBER…THIS NOW NEEDS TO BE A FULL PAGE.

1.“I like to see it lap the Miles” by Emily Dickinson (individual) – this will be posted in Google Classroom.

2.Discuss as a small group, then a large one.

HOMEWORK:  Book Check in #2 is TOMORROW.  You need your notes and/or books.  You will have access to a computer tomorrow, so you do not to print anything else.
