Conferences

I know March seems a while away, but it will be here before we know it. Conferences will be March 4 through 7. We will still have classes on these days. Conferences are for parents only. We will be going over your child’s progress in class up to this point as well as talk about next year plans for your child (preschool and/or kindergarten). Please sign up for one of the dates and times on the Google Doc below. If your child goes to school on a TTH, please pick one of the TTH dates. Same goes for MWF. Mrs. Lackey and I look forward to meeting with you!

Lesson plans for the weeks of January 15 and 22

During the week of January 15, the MWF class will be talking about measurement using conventional and non-conventional measuring tools. Non-conventional measuring tools? That will be our own feet! Students will be bringing homework home on Wednesday. They will need to pick a grown up, trace, and cut out their footprint. Those grown up footprints are due Friday. Please do not do this activity until after class on Wednesday so children understand why they are doing it. Also, make sure they are the ones who do the tracing and cutting with minimal help from you. Thank you!

TTH class will begin a two week lesson about transportation. Cars, planes, boats, and space! We know of several children who will love these lessons! We will also continue to work on teamwork and learning how to play together, as well as using our words when we want something from our peers.

During the week of January 22, the MWF class will also learn about transportation. This class is also continuing to work on teamwork and using their words when they want something versus taking and not asking. We will continue to build positive peer relations and look forward to the children branching out and making new friends!

BOTH GROUPS: Starting this Thursday and Friday, Mrs. Lackey and I will begin assessing all students for our upcoming conferences which take place the afternoons of March 4-7. In the next few weeks, I will put out a Google Doc with conferences times for you to choose from. Assessments are kept simple and fun. The kids like getting some one on one time with Mrs. Lackey or myself. We talk to them about colors, shapes, letters, numbers, etc. This takes us several weeks, so as we tell the children, please be patient with us. If you have any questions about this assessment, please see me.
