Good morning everyone! As we discussed during our parent orientation, we ask that you drop your child off at our classroom door. We’ve noticed a large amount of parents entering the room which gets confusing for the kids and potentially dangerous as we had several children slip through the busy door. Your children are still learning our classroom routine and entering on their own, putting their own water bottle away, and washing their hands is part of our morning routine. Mrs. Lackey’s job is to help with that routine. My job is to stay in the hall for a few extra minutes in case any child comes out or if any parent has a question. If you need anything in the morning, please see me. Thank you so much for helping our morning run so smoothly!
It will take about 20-30 minutes to answer the questions and you may need your child beside you for some of them. Questionnaires are due by September 30. At that time, I will print out the results and go over them with you. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
If your child is in the MWF class, we are looking for volunteers on Friday, October 6. On that day, the children will be making applesauce and we will need four adults to help us. I will take the first four people who email or speak to me about this. If you are new to our school or never filled out an iChat before, you will need to do that beforehand. It’s super easy. Just bring your ID with you to drop off or pick up and I will walk you to the office to do the paperwork. It takes less than five minutes. Thanks so much and we look forward to sharing this fun day with you!
We are still missing several pictures of children to hang on our preschool board. Please bring them in as soon as you are able so we can add them to the board. Thank you!
If you haven’t had a chance to check our parent board yet, please do so. It has our snack and playdough schedule as well as what the children are eating for snack everyday. Across from this board is a bookshelf you may have noticed. These books are free to take home and keep! Take as many as you would like. You can also bring books from home that you are finished with to put on the shelf. It’s a great opportunity for you child to read new books, plus the kids love visiting the shelf. Last thing, could you please label your child’s water bottle with their name. Some of the kids forget which one is theirs once it is with everyone else’s and if there is no name on it, Mrs. Lackey and I can’t help them find it. Thanks so much!
We will start our first full week by getting to know each other and our second week getting to know each other’s families. The lesson plans for these weeks are listed below. You can also find them on the parent board outside our classroom. If the lesson plan says MWF, it’s for the Monday, Wednesday, Friday class and if it says TTH, it is for the Tuesday/Thursday class.
Hello and thank you to everyone who was able to attend our parent orientation. I know we cover a lot very quickly, so if you have any questions that have popped up, please email me ( bazzin@dearbornschools.org ) or ask at parent-child transition day on Tuesday/Wednesday. I did forget to mention in the TTH class that every child needs a folder. It doesn’t matter what it looks like as long as it has pockets on the inside for paper work going to and from school. Please label the folder with your child’s name.
Tuesday and Wednesday will be our parent-child transition days. The class is split in half so it isn’t as overwhelming for the kids. You will stay with your child on this day. It’s a great chance for you and your child to explore the room together. On Thursday and Friday, your child will say goodbye to you at our classroom door and come into class on their own for one hour. Your times are listed below:
As some of you may know, DuVall has been undergoing construction for the past year. We are in the final days and I thought you might like a view of our room. It’s pretty dusty and definitely not set up yet! Today was the first day Mrs. Lackey and I were able to enter the building. We plan on working very hard to have it set up for our Wednesday orientation, but please bear with us if it’s not up to our usual standards. Have a wonderful weekend and we will see you Wednesday!
