Study Island

I gave the students their log in information for Study Island this morning.  The website looks different than it did in the past.  I feel that the website looks more kid friendly.  When they go on the website, the home screen will have four boxes.  One box is blue ribbons they have earned, another is suggested topics, another box is work in progress, another box is assignments.

On the left side of the screen they can click on “My Classes.”  On the box that says my class, they can click on “assignments” and see all assignments for the class.

If I do not have anything assigned, they can click on the left side of the screen and click US Programs.  From there they can choose 3rd Grade then Math or ELA (English Language Arts) and then select a topic of their choosing.

They can also click on NWEA under My Classes and the topics will be adjusted to their levels according to their NWEA scores.

When students click on a topic, they have a few choices.  One choice is having a lesson.  The lessons will describe the topic with examples.  Most of the time there are videos in the lesson to further explain it.   Another choice is Flash Cards.  Another choice is Practice where they can practice the topic and answer questions on the topic.

Currently I have 2 assignments that are due on Friday.  One assignment is on telling time and the other is elapsed time.

This is a great website that can benefit your child.  Please give your child time at home to go on Study Island and practice these skills.

The website is www.studyisland.com
