Reading 20 minutes or more each day will really help your child maintain skills. You can discuss or have your child write about the character, setting, problem, solution and life lesson in the story. They can also write about their favorite part of the story and include a picture. If reading an informational book, students can discuss or write about facts learned about the topic.

For extra math practice, you can write math problems and have your child solve them. To challenge your child, you can write 2 digit addition or subtraction problems. Students can also practice comparing two numbers using < less than, > greater than, and = equal to symbols. For example, 25 < 45; 35 > 15; 4 = 4.
