Good Morning from Mrs. Dimitriou

Good Morning!

Thank you all for the well wishes on the delivery and birth of my daughter, Mila Francesca. We are doing well and learning how to be a family of four! Stella loves her baby sister and is being very gentle with her… most of the time! Haha!

I am back for the remainder of the year and will be monitoring the children’s progress daily. I am available through email at dimitrm@dearbornschool.org

Please allow up to 24 hours for a response.

As always, the lessons for the week will be posted each Monday. For high participation, please go on Raz-kids, readingeggs, and mathseeds for 60 minutes each per week. That is 12 minutes on each site per day. Of course, you can always do more minutes, if you like!

I will be posting additional resources to the blog throughout the week. This work is optional and I am providing it as extra material for those of you who are wanting more activities to extend your child’s learning.

A HUGE thank you to Mrs. Bolger, who seamlessly takes over the class whenever she is needed! I appreciate her hard work and dedication to the learning in our classroom!

I hope all of you are well and staying safe!

Happy Monday!

Lessons for this week 5/4 – 5/8

Sentence Building

The following link will access a few sentence scrambles:

Kindergarten Sentence Building

The children can cut and arrange the picture to help them put the words for the sentence in the correct order. This is not only something fun the children enjoy doing, but it will also help to promote their sentence structure when they are writing on their own.

The children also practice similar skills to this when they engage in lessons on Reading Eggs .

Remember to have your child do 20 minutes or one lesson per day on reading eggs.  This site helps build sight word and word family knowledge, sentence structure, letter sound correspondence, and more!

Ocean Activities

Let’s do some Information writing about Oceans!

This activity can span several weeks and can be worked on over time. If we were in class, we would be taking a lot of time to learn about each animal, do a craft for each animal, and each child would complete an informational writing in the form of a book for an ocean animal of their choosing.

You may choose to do as much or as little with this as you would like. Please do not be overwhelmed with the amount of resources I will be posting in the coming weeks. This is just to give you options and because the children usually LOVE this unit! Each week, I will post more resources on the ocean unit.

I always begin our ocean unit with the children learning about the ocean zones and what animals live in each zone. The children love to take scrap paper and use two different color blue crayons and a black crayon to draw the zones and then to draw the animals which live in each zone.

Let’s begin by learning about the ocean zones:

Here is a fun experiment/craft you can do if you are looking for a follow up activity:
