Week of September 17th

Wednesday, September 19th is our first Late Start day!  Classes will begin at 9:00am.

Here is what we are working on this week in class:

ELA

  • Spelling words: punish, divisible, until, valuable, annual, subtraction, remainder, useful, energy, excuse, square, shuttle, education, inertia, mustard, costume, cultural, human, interaction, justify.
  • We are continuing to work on finding support in text for inferences about characters.
  • We are also drafting and revising our personal narratives.
  • Students are really loving “Fish in a Tree.” Discuss each day the events of the story with your child.

Math

  • We are continuing to work with place value using a new place value chart.
  • Each homework assignment that comes home has a homework helper to help assist your child with their homework.  Please reach out if you need extra  help.  Not all problems will be assigned.

Science

  • We are going to continue to work with vinegar and salt to watch pennies turn shiny.
  • We learned that pennies turn brown because of oxidation.

Social Studies

  • We studied the Constitution on Constitution day September 17th.
  • We are going to continue to study government with the three branches of government.
