10/8 Australopithecus!

Good Morning!

Today in class, we will begin the hour by collecting our word walls and flocabulary (many turned in flocabulary on Friday). We will then read and take notes about our first two hominids, Australopithecus and Homo Habilis.

Homework: 1. BEHAVE TOMORROW! PLEASE! 🙂 🙂 🙂 2. Chapter 1 and 2 Study Guide Definitions 1-6, 19-23, 28 3. Read Pages 14-17 in your book! 4. Print Hominid Cornell Notes from blog!(reminder you dont have to print this). hominidspresentationcnotes! 5. Moby Max 90 minutes due October 19th!

10/5 Flocabulary Side 2 (Current Events!)

Good Morning!

Today in class, we will begin the hour by putting a few more items in our notebooks. I will then explain the Chapter 1 and 2 Word Wall Assignment. Students will need to choose one of the 9 vocabulary words (Historian, Geographer, Archaeologist, Artifact, Prehistoric, Ritual, Hominid, or capability) and write the word at the top of the half sheet of paper given yesterday, underline the word, define it and then draw and color the word. We will then watch Flocabulary (Week in Rap), followed by working on the flocabulary(that is due Monday and worth 50 summative points), word wall (that is due Monday) and our Chapter 1 & 2 study guide.

10/4 Hominids!

Good Morning!

Today in class, we will begin the hour by turning in Geoskills 1.3 assignment(many turned in already) and our Cave Art Drawings. Students will then receive a half sheet of paper where they will complete a word wall over 1 out of the 9 vocabulary words. We will then review our Chapter 1 Cornell Notes, that are due tomorrow, if not turned in today.We will then begin Chapter 2, which relates to the Hominids, with a preview activity, followed by reading 2.1 in our books! (Extra Credit – email me what a hominid is!)

10/3 – Continuing to interpret the past!

Good Morning!

Today in class, we will begin the hour by getting our Chapter 1 and 2 Study Guide. Although, we will almost be completed with Chapter 1 today, students can fill out the vocabulary and numbers 1-6. HAChapter1and2SG This is not due for about a week and a half, but that does mean for students to start the work. We will then review the requirements for the cave art drawings. Students must draw one of the cave arts drawings on pages 8-11 (1.4-1.9)  Drawings. We will then continue to look at various artifacts and act as detectives to interpret what the artist meant by the artifacts/painting.

10/2 – Picture Day!

Good Morning!

Today in class, we will begin the hour by taking our pictures followed by working on our G/S 1.3 worksheet and working on our Cornell Notes for Chapter 1 and Moby Max. If time permits, we will begin 1.6. Students will also be getting their grades today for the progress reports that I sent out. However, I entered those grades on Friday without the Geoskills 1.2 packet and Chapter 1 and 2 Vocabulary and Sentences – I was very disappointed among many hours that did not complete their homework and still have a lot of missing work.

10/1 How do Social Scientists Interpret the Past?

Good Morning and Happy Monday!

Today in class, we will begin the hour by reviewing some questions from our Geoskills Packet. We will then act as history detectives by analyzing different forms of cave art and recording answers in our notebooks. After, we will turn in our Chapter 1 and 2 Vocabulary and Sentences.

9/28 TGIF!

Good Morning!

Today in class, we will begin the hour by placing notes for Chapter 1 in our notebooks. We will then discuss how to complete the Chapter 1 and 2 Vocabulary and Sentences. You will find the 9 words in the back of the book and then write a sentence about them. Use pages 6-15 to help you with sentences. Chapter1&2Vocab (2) Chapter1&2Vocab (1)We will then learn about the three types of history detectives and what they do. This will lead us into our Geoskills 1.2 worksheet on Page 4, which goes along side the textbook pages 6 and 7.

9/27 – Timelines & Primary and Secondary Sources

Good Morning!

Today in class, we will begin the hour by putting our completed Primary and Secondary Sources and Timeline Pamphlet into our notebook. We will then pass back papers, followed by learning more about Primary and Secondary Sources and turning in our Cornell Notes at the end of the hour! 9/26 Primary and Secondary Sources & Timeline Pamphlet/Cornell Notes

Good Morning!

Yesterday we took our Unit 1 Test! I am unable to give it back yet because I have a few people left to take it, grades are available on Student/Parent Connect! Today in class, we will begin the hour by putting some items in our notebook. We will then complete a preview activity over Chapter 1, followed by learning about Primary and Secondary Sources and Timelines! If time permits, students will work on their Primary and Secondary Source/Timeline Pamphlet (make me pretty – color it) and Cornell Notes.

9/25 Unit 1 Test Today!

Good Morning!

Today in class, you will be given a GeoSkills 1.2 packet, we will then review for our test, followed by taking our unit 1 test – good luck! These scores will be available on Student/Parent Connect today! Students after will work on Moby Max, GeoSkills Packet 1.2 (pages 1-3) or work on entering the definitions and examples on their Primary and Secondary Sources and Timeline Pamphlet.
