10/22 Chapter 3!

Good Morning!

Today in class, we will begin the hour by reviewing a few questions on our Geoskills 1.4 WS. We will then begin Chapter 3 with a preview activity, followed by working on Chapter 3 packet (pages 1 and 2), Chapter 3 Vocabulary and Word Wall. The rest of the notebook checks will be taken as well during the hour!

10/19 Chapter 1 and 2 Test!

Good Morning and TGIF!

Today in class, we will begin the hour by adding in the Chapter 3 Vocabulary Chapter 3 Vocabulary into our notebooks, and students will get a word wall definition sheet for chapter 3. As a reminder, they must use one of the six words, underline it, define it, and color it. We will then go over a problem on Geoskills 1.4 and check a few more notebooks, followed by taking our Chapter 1 and 2 Test. The tests will be available on student/parent connect.

10/18 Jeopardy!

Good Morning!

Today in class, I will review what will be on the Chapter 1 and 2 test tomorrow – 37 questions – multiple choice, matching of vocabulary, match the hominid to the nickname, determining primary or secondary source, and answering the questions, “How do social scientists interpret the past?” and “Compare the Capabilities hominids had in order to survive.” making it worth 45 points. *Extra credit, answer the these two essential questions in an email to me*

I will then show the class the notebook check again and how to complete it, followed by playing jeopardy. I will post the jeopardy link to my blog later today so students can play it tonight to help them study!

10/17 – Checking Chapter 1 & 2 Study Guide Today!

Good Morning!

Couple of reminders before we start today!

-If youre interested in participating in the GeoBee (naming off capitals, countries, geography, questions etc.) Please let me know ASAP.

-Notebook Checks, make sure you have all topics completed on the rubric and highlighted dated and underlined!

-The test on Friday will worth 45 points, 37 questions, matching vocabulary, match the hominid to the continent, determine primary and secondary sources, multiple choice and answering the 2 essential questions of “How did Social Scientists interpret the past?” and “Compare the capabilities that helped hominids survive?” – 3 sentences a piece!. If you can answer these two correctly on an email to me tonight, it will be extra credit. 

-If you need to know the amount of minutes you have for Moby Max, email me please! It is due Friday before you walk in!

Today in class, we will begin the hour by getting our 1.4 Geoskills worksheet. StateSmartLongLat (2) StateSmartLongLat (1)  We will then review the notebook check, the Hominid Presentation Cornell Notes,  followed by having a FEW tiny minutes of work time, then checking our study guides!

Hominid Presentations!

Good Morning!

As a huge REMINDER, all students were given the Chapter 1 and 2 Study Guide on October 3rd, we are checking it tomorrow and it must be completed. They will have had two weeks to complete it. Tomorrow is my birthday and all I would like is for my students to have study guides completed! PLEASE! 🙂 OH! and for a class to get to 90 minutes of Moby Max first!

Today in class, we will begin the hour by showing students how to complete a notebook check! (below I will explain more) We will then start/finish our Hominid Presentations, along with this they will be taking Cornell Notes over presentations in their notebooks!

Notebook Check – Each student will receive one of these 7thMarking Period 1 Notebook Check. They are required to highlight the topic on the table of continents and title. Each topic must be completed in order to earn the 100 summative points. This is due on Monday.

Today in class, we will begin the hour collecting our “Hominid Circle Maps” followed by getting back some papers, as well as putting some items in our notebook.We will then finish our hominid projects! They are due at the end of the hour. We will begin presenting tomorrow!

10/12 TGIF Half Day Friday!

Today in class, we will continue to work on our hominids projects! On Monday by the end of the hour they will be due. Students will be mostly coloring their hominids and cutting out the materials for the project.

As a HUGE reminder to all, it is important that you are here for the next few days due to the Hominids Project that you are assembling and presenting next week. If you miss a day, you could end up in a group by yourself.

10/10 Last two Hominids!

Good Morning!

Today in class, we will begin the hour by getting a Hominid Circle Map. It will be at random which hominid they receive, but they will need to fill it out as homework, it is due on Monday. HominidCircleMapOutline We will discuss Homo Sapiens Neanderthalensis, and Homo Sapiens Sapiens. We will also be discussing the test. As of now, we will be checking the the study guide for Chapters 1 and 2, Wednesday October 17th, and test will be on Friday the 19th. The test will be worth 45 questions, multiple choice, matching of vocabulary, and matching of the hominids and two short answers of “How do Social Scientists interpret the past?” and “Compare the capabilities that helped the hominids survive.” *this is tentative, the test could be sooner*

10/9 Handy Man and Upright Man!

Good Morning!

I will be out today, however, Ms. Ulfers, my student teacher will be running class per usual. I expect all students to be extremely respectful of Ms. Ulfers and the substitute in the classroom.  Today in class, we will discuss and take notes over the next two hominids, Homo Habilis and Homo Erectus.
