Anne Frank Field Trip

This is just a reminder that the 8th grade students will be going on their field trip to see the play, The Diary of Anne Frank, on Friday February 26th. Students need to dress theater appropriate (no jeans, shorts, leggings or hoodies). The ladies have been asked to wear a skirt or dress or dress pants. Again, they may not wear leggings. I also asked them to avoid uncomfortable shoes (like brand new high heels) as they will be walking to and from the bus and through school for the rest of the day. Gentleman were told they should wear Khakis or other dress pants, a collared shirt, and should not wear tennis shoes or boots. Students will also be dressing this way for their 8th grade ceremony in June.
If you have any questions about the expected attire, feel free to contact me via email.

Literary Terms Project-Part 1

Today students were assigned a project that they will need to finish over the weekend at home. This is a 50 point formative assessment that also has a second part that will be assigned next week. Part 2 of this assignment is going to be a SUMMATIVE grade, thus it is imperative that they complete part 1 as the foundation for part 2.
Please find attached the directions and rubric for this assignment.
Again, this is due when they walk through the door on Tuesday, February 16th.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Gum, Candy etc……….

I am noticing that many students feel that the rules about gum and candy (or other food) in the classroom are optional to follow. It is a school rule that no gum is allowed and this is something I strictly enforce. Many students try to pretend they never knew the rules, or they forgot.

As this was stated in my syllabus, signed by both you and your student, I am no longer going to give students a second chance.

I know they are aware and understand this rule, so I want to make you aware that ALL students who are caught with gum, candy, or other food in this classroom will be assigned a detention. I have been doing this for several weeks, but wanted to share the information with all parents as well. This is not something that I want to do, but it seems the only way to get the point across at this juncture. Please take a minute to discuss this with your student.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions.
