Final Argument Essay

For the last several weeks, students have been working on creating an argument essay. This week, in fact, they had time each day to work independently on each section of the paper.

This paper is due on Tuesday, January 16th, no exceptions.

If your student was absent any day this week, or is absent on Tuesday, they have all that they need to complete this task in Google Classroom.

This assignment is worth 25 SUMMATIVE points and will have a great impact on their final grade for this second card-marking.

I am attaching the directions, rubric and final reminders for finishing up the essay. All other documents can be found in google classroom.

Enjoy the long weekend!

Argument Homework for Wednesday, December 13th.

If you were absent today, did not finish the assignment in class, or left school early, please read the following directions for homework.

If you do not understand what to do, please EMAIL ME, do not post comments to the blog. If you do email me, please ask a specific question about what you do not understand. Saying, “I don’t get it”, does not help me help you. Make sure you have read all of the directions carefully, before emailing!

Homework:

If you did not start this in class, please print, read, and fill in all parts of the attached document.

If you started this in class, you may continue to complete your copy of the assignment. When you finish, DO NOT SHARE IT WITH ME, mark as done and turn it in. If that does not work, just make sure you have it completed before coming to school tomorrow.

American Plague: Yellow Fever PSA Assignment

On Friday students were given an assignment to create a PSA poster to try to prevent the spread of yellow fever in Philadelphia, 1793. The basis for this poster is the story, “American Plague” we read in class on Thursday.

Please find attached the assignment details, including the rubric, and some additional information to help their argument. They are also allowed to search the internet for any more information they deem necessary. All focus must be placed upon the 1793 epidemic, as opposed to anything that has occurred since and all “cures” must utilize only items available in that time period. Posters should be completed on regular sized computer paper, which was given in class.

This assignment is due on Monday, December 11th, and is worth 20 summative points. Making a choice not to complete, or turn in, this assignment will result in a dramatic lowering of the student’s grade.

Please email me to let me know if you have questions.

Zoos: Myth and Reality Assignment

After you complete the reading of the story, please breakdown the argument and list it by the parts. I have attached an instruction/example sheet. I would prefer you do it on loose leaf, but you can just fill in the paper if you print it out.

I will be available very little this long weekend, so please REREAD the directions above and consult your friends and classmates to get help, before trying to email me.

Have a GREAT weekend and Happy Thanksgiving!!

For those who were unable to attend, your student has been directed to go over the information with you at home. They have a form that they filled out regarding their grade, their reading, and their personal and academic goals to discuss with you.

Please sign the form upon the completion of your home based conference and return it to me no later than Friday.

I have attached the blank form in case they “forget” to bring it home. Let me know if you have any questions.
