Today’s Class: Thursday 09/13
- SAT bellwork Thu 09-13
- Students wrote guided notes about equations of circles equation of circle notes
- Then a student came up on the board and showed their work for completing the square problem#13 p46. Completing the square p46#13
- After that, we had a pair work. Students were given an SAT challenging question and they worked with their partner on the white board to solve it. Partners who got the right answer and knew how to explain their work got extra 3 summative points.SAT challenging question_equation of a circle_completing the square

- Review all notes that were discussed in class and all assigned homework problems
- Here are the I can statements:
- Factor and Solve Quadratic equations
- I can convert between inequality and interval notation
- I can apply exponent rules and simplify expressions
- I can write an equation of a circle given the center and radius (Tomorrow’s Objective)
- I can find the radius and center of a circle using its equation (Tomorrow’s Objective)
- I can find the slope of a line from a given pair of points
- I can write in point slope form equations of a line parallel to a given line or perpendicular to a given line and passing through a given point.
- I can find how many real solutions does a quadratic equation have using the discriminant (Tomorrow’s Objective)
Homework notes
- p36#3-6: After you find the slope, write the equation in point slope form then in slope intercept form. Box each form and label it. You can use abbreviation PSL and SIF
- p36#11-14: Find in point slope form then in slope intercept form. ALso label each form
- p37#41-44: Those problems have 2 parts each, part a and part b.
- Part a: find the equation of a line going through the given point and parallel to the given line.
- Part b: Find the equation of a line going through a given point and perpendicular to a given line.
