Hello! The school year is off to a great start, and we’ve officially settled into a routine and the students are thriving. The students are doing well a their CBI and job sites, and the class has matured since last year, which means better behaviors and fewer fires to put out! In the classroom this month we are focusing on job etiquette. This includes topics like dress code, body language, good behavior, safety, calling in sick, communication, problem solving, attitude and sexual harassment. Unfortunately, we live in a time where we have to educate our students on what it is and what to do if it happens. The students are taught that it is “unwanted verbal or physical behavior”, and they are told that it’s wrong and to say “no”, as well as taught who to tell if it should happen to them.

Magazines: If anyone has magazines they are willing to donate to the class, the students would love looking through them during leisure time. Sports, fashion, and cooking are all popular. Students also enjoy looking at catalogs such as LTD, and clothing catalogs.

Halloween Party: We will be going on a field trip for our Halloween Party. We will be going to Ford Lanes for 2 hours of bowling, pizza and pop. We will end the day back at Hype and probably have time for a Halloween movie or games. The cost of the field trip is $12, and should be turned in to me by Monday, October 24th. If your son/daughter does not like bowling, he/she may stay home that day as there will not be anyone here at Hype and we will be gone all day. Please just let us know and we will mark them excused. All three classes will be attending this trip: Mrs. Camp, Ms. Cote and Mrs. King.

Zumba: Ms. Susan is hosting a Halloween Zumba party at her studio on October 26th during her Fitness 4 All Class. Time is 5:00 and it will be a Halloween-themed playlist. You can even wear a costume. Family is invited!

A few reminders:

  1. Students should be eating breakfast before coming to school and bringing a snack. It has been brought to my attention that some students are asking for food on the job sites and this is not appropriate or allowed.

2. Tomorrow is a half day, students do not need a lunch, but should bring a snack. We do not attend job sites on half days.

3. Parent teacher conferences will be in November, and we will send home more information in the next week or so. As usual, we will have a Sign-Up-Genuis link for you to choose your time slot. Due to the number of students, we can only offer one time per family so that we are able to see all that families that would like to come in.

Upcoming Dates:

October 7 – half day

October 12 – late start

October 28 – half day

November 8 – half day

November 23-25 No School, Thanksgiving Break!
