Today in class the 8th graders worked together to write and solve real-world equation problems. The IXL, which we began in class, are IXL A.S.12 & 8.Z.12 on writing linear equations. These will be going on the next marking period so everyone has a chance to complete them after Halloween.

Today in class the 6th graders took their unit assessment on solving real-world problems using rates. There is no homework tonight:)

Be safe tonight!

Monday, Oct 30

Today in class the 8th graders worked together to solve a linear function problem. They then began “Rational and Irrational Numbers#1” which is homework and due tomorrow.

Today in class the 6th graders took notes on finding the percent of a number. The IXL, which we began in class, are 6.S.3 and 6.S.4. Please finish these at home by Wednesday.

Reminder: All late work is due Wednesday since Friday is the end of the marking period:)

Thursday, Oct 25

Today in class the 8th graders took their assessment on function testing. The classwork/homework is “Evaluating Functions” using substitution in google classroom.

Today in class the 6th graders began their unit on percents by completing, “Test Scores with Percents” in class. Then they began Dividing Fractions Bookwork in google classroom, which is due Monday.

Wednesday, Oct 25

Today in class the 8th graders wrote their conclusion from yesterday’s investigation. They began IXL A.Q.10 but might need to finish this at home.

Today in class, the 6th graders who were not on the music field trip graphed a picture of Jack Skellington on the coordinate plane using integers and decimals. If you were on the trip, you will get this tomorrow and can hand it in later. This is not expected to be completed by tomorrow:) Take your time and turn it in next week.

Tuesday, Oct. 24

Today in class the 8th graders worked in pairs to match up domain and range of functions and look for patterns in the notation. The homework is to finish the matching worksheet, not the CER reflection. We will do this in class tomorrow.

Today in class the 6th graders took a brief assessment on double number lines. After that, we revised our CER from yesterday, “Mixing Concrete”. The IXL is 6.R.9 on unit rate word problems.

Monday, Oct. 23

Today in class the 8th graders worked in pairs to analyze relations to see if they are functions, in “Function Testing Bookwork”. Please finish up Friday’s IXL 8.Z.8 to 95%.

Today in class the 6th graders worked on creating their own ratio diagrams in google draw/docs/sheets to answer a CER, in “Mixing Concrete”. This is due tomorrow.

Friday, Oct 20

Today in class the 8th graders worked with partners to complete, “Mapping Diagrams bookwork”. Tonight’s IXL is 8.Z.8 to 95%. Tuesday’s quiz will contain the following topics:

  • graphing ordered pairs
  • function testing (vertical line test)
  • mapping diagrams
  • writing a narrative for situation graphs
  • completing a function table and graph for a linear function in y=mx+b form
  • domain and range of ordered pairs

Today in class the 6th graders worked with partners to complete, “Constant Speed Problems” and “Sweet Tea”.  Tuesday’s quiz will contain only double number lines.

Thursday, Oct 19

Today in class the 8th graders worked in teams to describe graphs using mathematical vocabulary, in “Patterns in Graphs”. Most students finished but some need to complete this at home. The IXL is A.CC.1 on types of graphs.

Today in class the 6th graders learned about dividing fractions using an area model and an algorithm. The IXL are 6.L.1,6.L.3, and 6.L.5.  They are NOT due tomorrow. Do them at your own pace.
