Thursday, Nov. 30

Today in class the 8th graders investigated the relationship between the side lengths in a right triangle. Homework is to finish the IXL A.S.6 on graphing in slope intercept form.

Today in class the 6th graders took notes on simplifying variable expressions. The IXL are 6.Y.3 & 6.Y.4 on substitution. Please finish this at home.

Wednesday, Nov. 29

Today in class the 8th graders took their quiz on calculating slope. Then we worked on completing yesterday’s unfinished work and anything else that was missing. No homework unless you are behind!

Today in class the 6th graders evaluated variable expressions in, “Advanced Expressions Bookwork”.  We will check this in class tomorrow.

Tuesday, Nov. 28

Today in class the 8th graders analyzed real-world function graphs in, “Santa Rosa Graphs”, and had the IXL A.S.5 & A.S.10 on slope-intercept form.

Today in class the 6th graders wrote equations to match real-world word problems in, “Which Goes With Which?”. The IXL are 6.Z.2 & 6.Z.3 on equations.

Monday, Nov. 27

Today in class the 8th graders rewrote and graphed lines in all three linear forms. The assignment in google classroom is called, “Solve For Y Bookwork” and IXL  A.S.11 to 85-90%. Your quiz on slope and rewriting in slope-intercept form is Wednesday!

Today in class the 6th graders used substitution to evaluate variable expressions in, “Evaluate Expressions Bookwork”.  The IXL is 5.V.8 on variable expressions. No homework unless you need to finish the IXL.

Tuesday, Nov. 21

Today in class the 8th graders analyzed real-world graphs to describe the rate of change in the context of the real world situation in, “Interpreting Rate of Change CER”. Please complete missing IXL A.S.3 and 8.Z.4 over the weekend.

Today in class the 6th graders took their quiz on the order of operations using exponents. There is no homework over the weekend!

Upcoming Retake Options

The next set of retakes for 6th and 8th grade are next week (after the break) on

Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 7:15 AM at my green door, or Thursday, Nov. 30 at 3:00 pm.

Please sign up using the spreadsheet in my google classroom.

Remember:

  • no missing assignments
  • test must be signed by a parent/guardian
  • all test corrections must be made

Monday, Nov. 20

Today in class the 8th graders worked in groups to find graphs, tables, and ordered pairs with similar slopes. The only homework is to catch up on your missing IXL. Your slope quiz is right after Thanksgiving break.

Today in class the 6th graders worked in groups to match verbal phrases with variable expressions. Tomorrow is the quiz on order of operations, writing variable expressions, and simplifying exponential expressions.

Friday, Nov. 17

Today in class the 8th graders calculated slope three ways in, “Slope Mixed Review” and began the IXL 8.Z.4 on slope. The quiz on slope will be right after Thanksgiving break. Please work on missing IXL over the weekend.

Today in class the 6th graders worked together to complete, “Exponents Bookwork”, and began IXL 7.I.3 Exponents with Variables. The quiz on writing expressions and evaluating them using the order of operations with exponents will be Tuesday, Nov. 21.

Thursday, Nov. 16

Today in class the 8th graders practiced calculating slope from graphs and ordered pairs. The IXL are A.S.2 & A.S.3 to 90%. Please make sure you are completing 8.X.8  from earlier this week.

Today in class the 6th graders are solving equations containing exponents, in  “Variable Exponents”. The IXL are 6.D.3 on exponent equations & 6.D.10 on square roots.

Wednesday, Oct 15

Today in class the 8th graders worked with partners to graph linear functions and calculate slope using multiple methods. The homework is to make sure yesterday’s IXL 8.X.2 is complete!

Today in class the 6th graders checked yesterday’s bookwork and began working on the IXL 6.O.3 on Order of Operations and 6.Y.2 writing variable expressions.  Please finish these at home if you need:)
