All students now have an Open eBook account

Thanks to Paige Walker, our Communities in Schools Coordinator, all students have another resource! She created logins for every student in the school.

I created a Google Classroom assignment for each student in my class with their unique access code and PIN.

This will require downloading the “Open eBooks” app. I will post the letter from Ms. Walker here. It is also included in your child’s assignment on Google Classroom.

If your child has a Dearborn Public Library card they can also download the Overdrive app, connect their account, and download eBooks that way as well.

Reading – Week of March 23 – 27

This is also posted as an assignment in Google Classroom:

1. Update your reading minutes on your March is Reading Month (MIRM) calendar. Go back to last week’s assignment to update. This is the last week of March, so all 4 weeks should be filled in by the end of the week.
2. You have 2 new Readworks assignments and 1 new Newsela assignment this week. Pace yourself, do one a day. Complete all 3 by Friday.
3. I responded to the letter you wrote me last week (if you didn’t do this, go back to last week’s assignment and do it now). Read what I wrote you by going back to last week’s assignment. You will need to answer any question I ask you in this week’s letter.
4. Write back to me using the reading letter doc I included for you. Start by dating your letter and addressing it to me. Then, answer any question I asked you first, then write a paragraph summary (5 sentences) of the book you are reading right now. Underline the title and tell me who the author is. Then you will write two more paragraphs, choose one topic for each paragraph from the “Possible Topics for Your Reading Letters” posted in the assignment.
5. Submit your letter.
6. I can’t wait to read about your reading this week! Remember, you can always go back and reread the letters I wrote you last week about Front Desk or the letter explaining this letter writing.

Classroom share success!

Thank you for helping facilitate this morning! 19 of 26 students joined the conversation and shared how they’re doing and what they’ve been up to. It was so nice to see all of their smiling faces!

I will schedule more for next week. Please stay tuned!

If you haven’t had a chance to go through the Weekly To-Do List check in yet, please do. Students can find it on my Google Classroom.

Please be in touch with questions or if you need anything.
