Goals for This Week:
Message Board time: Children will be reading a story called “Belly Breathing.” It is a strategy for helping children keep calm by taking deep breaths. We will reenact the animals chaos in the book and use breaths to help us calm our body.
Small Group time: Children will be sorting and classifying pictures together (and again independently) about things that have been happening in our classroom. Teachers will talk with children about “okay” and “not okay” choices for school. Children will use glue sticks to glue pictures onto their chart. The chart will be sent home on either Monday or Tuesday- depending on which small group your child is in. Looking at this with your child, may be a helpful way to connect rules you have at home to rules we are setting with children at school. In other small group activities this week, children will be using red/white dots to create patterns, using mirrors to make faces to identify emotions, and working together to put together a giant floor puzzle.
Planning Time: Children will be working on using their friends’ names and the names of the areas in our classroom.
Worktime: Children will be working on turn taking, building friendships, and using materials in our classroom.
Recall Time: Children will be selecting one toy they worked with during worktime and will share how they used it during recall.
Whole Group: Children will beginning our work with the Young 5’s classroom. We will learn together about focusing our attention.
More details about our planned activities are hanging on the bulletin board outside our classroom.
See you in the morning!
