Math help- Try this Eureka math help and games to make your child a top math student-

https://bit.ly/35QeXMc     It is also on my BLOG.

No school-until January 6, 2020

SCIENCE – We are learning about bodies of water and landforms (earth science) in our unit.

SPELLING WORDS FOR NEXT WEEK ARE consonant digraphs.   Please continue to point out the pattern of the spelling words each week and help your child discover words with these patterns in their reading.  Soon, your child will be pointing these out to you, if they do not already.  A good idea is to get a blank notebook and keep a list.  Send them in for extra credit.

The words will be: arch, brush, chase, dash, ditch, hatch, mouth, patch, path, pinch, shell, thick, whale, whisk, wish.

Social Studies– Our unit is, “Where is my community and what is it like?  Ask your child to name the transportation that they see in their community.  What are the physical/natural characteristics that they see in their community (grass, river, trees, hills…)

Ornament Sale- Our class made candy cane bead ornaments to help raise money at the Ecology Club sale.  The money will go to a homeless shelter in Wayne County.  I also allowed one of their products to go home with them.  We learned about making products and transporting them to market.   We will talk more about economics in social studies soon.

Sign Language- See how much your child remembers when using sign language to sing, Jingle Bells.

Math Facts- It is time to buy your child math fact flashcards (the dollar store sells them) to help practice math facts.  Students should also use counters, if they do not understand how much each number is.

Sprint pages – Some days there is not enough time to do all of the fact practice in our Sprint math pages, so I sent them home on Thursday in a red folder.  Please keep up math practice with these.  Notice if your child is having trouble and help where needed.  Draw pictures and go slow, if necessary.  They don’t all need to be finished.  Please send back the folder and I will reward your child.  Please write a note if these are very difficult.

Computer test will be in January (schedule to be announced) please ask your child to read (many books in book bag or go to the library) during vacation and practice some math.

I also have some websites to use on the back of this newsletter and in the BLOG.  Thank-you for all of your wonderful support.  The class and I are very lucky to have you.

Happy Birthday to Leith Mohamed!

Congratulations to Daher Alwazan  for being the student of the month of January!
