LO: I can write an argument to support both sides of the question, “Is life on the farm better for the animals after the rebellion?”

    1. The question is: Is life on the farm better for the animals after the rebellion?
    2. You have to be able to support both sides
    3. You can use evidence from chapters 1-5 , yes you have to use direct quotes and yes you have to cite your source after the quotation (Author’s last name, page #).

  2. Find the theme of chapter 1 Animal Farm
    1. To get a 4 you must have all of the criteria listed and your theme should be deep, unique and personal
    2. To receive a 3 on this assignment, you must have all of the components and your theme can be cliché (a phrase or opinion that is overused and betrays a lack of original thought). “You can’t judge a book its cover” is a cliché.
    3. A 2 means that you either do not have all of the components or your paragraph is not clear/ does not make logical sense
    4. Anyone that receives a 1, just simply did not try.

    1. I expect everyone to be using the laptops wisely today, which means NO GAMES.
    2. Using our time wisely means that because we have time in class to work on this, that’s exactly what we are going to do because we know that we will not go home and complete this for homework
    3. We should all realize that our Fishbowl Discussion is a summative grade and that we will be graded by the depth and complexity of our answers. There are no participation points for this assignment. Either you have researched evidence to back up your opinion or you don’t.
    4. If you don’t understand what question is asking you, then I expect you to ask me to clarify. Also, if you don’t know where to start your research, I expect you to ask for assistance.
