First Grade Virtual Resources:
1. The first resources is called roll and respond. If you do not have a dice at home (look in a board game), then you can just have students pick any number or you could have google randomly generate a number for them. This is a great resource for discussion and writing practice. Students read a book of their choice or level and then choose the corresponding sheet: fiction or nonfiction. Then, students roll or choose a question and they can discuss that question with you or write a response to that question.

2. Finding the main idea of any text is an essential skill as students learn to read. This allows them to pick out important information and decide what information is non-essential. This organizer can be used with any text, fiction or nonfiction and can be used when a student reads their own book or if you read one to them. If you do not have a printer, just have the student draw the boxes on a plain sheet of paper.
