Hello Maples Parents and Students,

I hope you are all doing well. This week, each student will get the option to choose to listen to their own choice of an audio book. Click on the link below, scroll through the book options and choose the one you are interested in. Listen to the read aloud. When you are done, write down the name of the book you listened to and tell me what your favorite part was. When you are done you can send me your work to classdojo or email me alsurae@dearbornschools.org.

Have a wonderful week.

Ms. Alsuraimi

Greeting Maple families!

I hope you had restful weekend. This week’s assignment is a fun one. Take a few minutes to look outside your window or front door. What do you see that is beautiful or interesting? Take a few minutes to draw what you see outside and explain how this makes you feel. When you are done you can send me your creative drawings through classdojo or email me alsurae@dearbornschools.org. I cannot wait to see your creativity!!

1st grade requirements:

A drawing + one sentence of how the view outside makes you feel.

2nd grade requirements:

A drawing + two-three sentences of how the view makes you feel.

3rd grade requirements:

A drawing + three-four sentences of how the view makes you feel.

Greetings Smith families!

I hope you all had a restful weekend and are ready to start a new week of learning. Below you will find an attachment of the 7th and 8th grade weekly calendar. Please refer to them to get an idea of what your child’s schedule will be for the week.

I also want to mention that our novel unit is going great!! The students seem to enjoy the reading and I am getting a lot of positive feedback from them. Please continue to encourage them to read daily and complete their weekly assignments for a total of TWO grades per week which will be posted on student connect every Sunday night.

This week I am offering two office hours. Parents and students will receive an instant response to an email/text between this time, so if you have any questions please reach out.

Greetings 7th and 8th grade Families!

We are diving into the second week of our novel study. Things have been going great and the students seem to be interested in their novels. Moving forward, there will be two specific hours per week that I will be “live.” I will host a Google Meet/ Hangout once a week as well as one hour per grade level of virtual office hours. During my virtual office hours, you are guaranteed to get a response from me within 5-10 minutes. Parents and students can email me with any questions or concerns and will receive a reply instantly.

7th Grade:

Google Meet/Hangout : Thursdays @12pm

Virtual office hours: Tuesdays 3:00-4:00pm

8th Grade:

Google Meet/Hangout: Thursday @1pm

Virtual office hours: Tuesdays 4:00-5:00pm

These office hours along with the weekly Google Hangout/Meet for the novel study (Thursdays) are where I will take “attendance.” If your student does not log into these time slot, then I will be connecting through email or text in order to connect twice a week per our new Learning Plan. Of course I will still be available daily Monday-Friday through email, call, or text for your convenience.

As for grading, students will receive TWO grades per week and will be posted Sunday night. This allows the students to complete the prior weeks materials. It is important that all work posted in Google Classroom is attempted so that grades can be given in order for your student to earn credit for the card marking.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. Stay safe and healthy!

Ms. Alsuraimi

Grades 1st-3rd Grade:

Take a few minutes to read “Stinky Winky Silly Willy Off-Key Donkey” and get a much needed laugh. As you listen to this read aloud, write down all the words that end with “-ing.” Have you ever heard these words before? Ca you use them in a sentence?

This week’s challenge: Use at least TWO words from the list you created in your conversations each day. Remember, each day you must use TWO DIFFERENT words, you cannot repeat the same words each day! 🙂
